Yes, I just found out.
Shattering news.
I have a tear in my eye today.

Kiss were so very much a part of my youth; so many great memories; and Ace was a much underrated guitarist.
Fly high Ace Frehley. :guitar:

Hearing Destroyer and Detroit Rock City changed the music landscape for me when I was young, it was my first taste of anything that had a real edge to it. For a kid in the 70s the costumes and makeup were pretty bad*** too.

I was such a huge fan of kiss when I was a child. I even became a member of the Kiss army when I was 8 years old. I guess it was 1977 or 1978. Mom’s boyfriend hooked me up. He sent in the money and I got the packet in the mail. Not many of the musicians my mom hung with liked that music, but I loved it my first rebellion against folk hippy music.

I was a Class A-1 member and Sgt Baker was my commanding officer. I had a certificate, member ID card and a dogtag. It was pretty cool for a little kid back in the day. I wish I still had that stuff.

I am really saddened by the loss. The Spaceman will always be in my heart.

Tomorrow will be the 48th anniversary of the Lynyrd Skynyrd tragic plane crash in 1977, that robbed us all of undoubtedly the soul of what is known as Southern Rock.

The band continued under many configurations, physicaly rebuilding and learning to play again. But alas the original “team” are no longer with us.

Always will and always will be. Always in my heart.

My wife and I were married in June of that year and danced to Freebird on our wedding night, our tune along with Stairway To Heaven. Only to be robbed a few months later.

So as I do this year and years before and years to come, I celebrate the most iconic Southern Rock band.

Always in my heart and in my soul.

Where else can music be found ?

I’ve got the 12" single Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go

I was sad to see Donna Jean Godchaux died. She had a very beautiful voice.

I was never a deadhead or into the hippy stuff, I had been dragged to a number of Dead shows in my childhood by my mom. My wife on the other hand is a flat out GenX GD lover. Her mom was a full on Northern California hippy and like me, my wife was raised in a very unconventional way. I was very lucky that my wife taught me to respect the dead and to see the beauty of their music. She especially loved Donna’s vocals, she will be bummed when she gets home later.

Beat me to it, only just found out!
Quote on FB from a GD appreciation society.
“ We’re deeply saddened by the passing of Muscle Shoals’ own Donna Jean Godchaux. Before her legendary years with the Grateful Dead, Donna Jean began at FAME and in the Shoals, lending her voice to classics like When a Man Loves a Woman and Suspicious Minds.”
