Local guitarist, musician, artist and poet, Jim Flemming died yesterday.
Iām so happy his family and friends had the chance to have a good knees-up and let him know they loved him before he passed away
RIP Jim
Hi Brian and frieds
A simple like, which is of course very common now⦠yes, that doesnāt work with such a post in my head⦠there needs to be a sympathy thing/button like that heart but different (or I just shouldnāt whine so much ),⦠then just this little short story to clear my head
He was brilliant. He relinquished all copyright on his music in 2022, and itās available here (sometimes just lyrics, sometimes sheet music, I donāt think there are guitar tabs, but - hey! - thereās a project!). In the words of the man himself:
So help yourselves, and donāt send me any money.

I went to high school the same exact years in St. Louis, Missouri, where we definitely could not hang out in bars or clubs!
Still, Radar Love was heard everywhere. Nice memories.
I am sad to share the passing of Mari. She was a long time member of the Community, I canāt remember a time without her. Personally I shared many good times with her, even collaborating to produce a GnR inspired version of Knocking on Heavenās Door.
She has fought illness for some time, one thing coming after another. Finally she passed peacefully.
David
Thank you for creating a separate topic for this. We rarely get to hear about the passing of members as folk come and go as much as the tide ebs and flows. A few of us knew this was on the cards and there will also be those who have not crossed Mariās path. A topic on itās own right it truly justified, as this thread is normally about the guitar gods we worship, not those who walk amongst us here. We just donāt get to hear of their passing.
RIP Mari
RIP Hilts (if you know you know).
Thanks Toby.
I was not quite sure so opted for a double.
You are right, we may never know when it happens unless arrangements are made to let us know. Such is the care and thoughtfulness of Mari that she made a point of ensuring we were told when the moment came.
Yes, the ālikeā is a bit a catch all. Does it mean ālikeā, does it mean agree with an opinion, is it simply a way of telling the OP youāve taken time to read their post?
I suppose the answer is to write a reply that expresses how you feel. But that takes time and thought and the site is so busy that that is not always possible.

Very sad news.
Great band of my youth.
I was literally playing Give A Little Bit, in a revision practice session today, when this sad news came up. How bizarre.

Or it says how crazy much you practice ⦠no
That is the song I just thought of when I heard and typed this⦠it is their song that I have most in my head every time we drive somewhere (happens very often) or sit somewhere where there is are people windsurfing.
As a teenager in Italy a few Italian friends taught me to surf and on the way there by car to a fabulous mountain lake we sang āgive a little wind for my windsurf pleaseā etc

Was at the Breakfast in America concert in 1979 in Calgary. I believe it was the largest outdoor concert that summer. Great show.
