In the End [Linkin Park] - Acoustic Cover

Hey All!

I am still working on the whole singing + guitar thing :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

This song is a work-in-progress, and it’s a little ambitious for my current level. I thought I’d share a snapshot of where it’s at right now.

Linkin Park is tough because their rock + rap songs are technically duets and I have to cover both parts…

Since recording this last week, I’ve started doing tons of vocal exercises to expand my range and strengthen my voice. I’m hoping to sing with more power by the end of the year.

Please give me your feedback!

Best regards,
Mukund

Nicely done! That was a very ambitious vocal part, but you pulled it off very well. Congrats

@dfrazz Thanks for the compliment, David! I still think it’s a bit out of my league, but I think there’s value of stretching for it. Now I just need to improve my vocal tone on those high notes.

Very good Mukund. I like your recording very much. I think your vocals are pretty good already so look forward to hearing something after you’ve worked on them. The guitar playing, importantly, was pretty solid too.

Wow! You chose a tough one there Mukund, but I thought you played and sang it well. There’s a lot of vocal dexterity involved in switching between the singing and rapping, especially when they’re in such different registers. Well done!

If you have the tech skills do yourself think it would be worth recording it as two tracks, where you can focus on singing and playing on one and on rapping with the other?

It must be quite difficult to rap and play guitar at the same time. Thanks for posting.

@Willsie I appreciate the kind words, John. It’s been about 10 days of daily vocal exercises but I’m already feeling stronger.

Eventually I’d like to learn to add a bit more rasp to my voice, if that’s even possible :blush:

@greentreefrog Thanks Jonathan!

Totally hear you on making a multi-track (higher quality) recording. I think it would be a good project for sure! Another option is to have another person/people handle the vocal parts.

Up until now, I’ve been focusing on learning a handful of songs that I could play live - playing guitar and singing all at the same time. That’s the vibe of this particular recording.
