Introduction; Hi! My name is Caroline, and I just signed up here yesterday& hoping to pick up some solid skills and make some friends along the way. I live in Britain on a small island, learning guitar on my own after buying myself a second hand Yamaha 310 & begging my son to show me a few basics before he departed for uni in September 2020. I just didn’t get very far trying to learn from YouTube but in 2026 I have given it some proper time & suddenly it’s clicked. Guitar is something I’ve always wanted to learn, & I just love hearing people play live. I have about a dozen songs but my strumming is a little dodgy & finger picking has seemed waaaay too scary- but I’ve jumped in here with both feet now! I’m in my fifties ( but in total denial about that & still skipping around feelin’ like I’m still 23!), & I’m rather isolated so I’ve given myself a shove & here I am. I love all sorts of music- 80’s, from my youth, & everything from Eagles, Led Zepp, All the great folk rock stuff and trad folky stuff & generally a real mix. So happy to be here with like- minded people!

Hi Caroline. That was a very colorful introduction - I think you will fit right in with the characters in this community. At age 50 and “skipping around feelin’ like I’m still 23” you have a chance to join the pantheon of aging rock legends like Keith Richards and Rod Stewart!

I truly believe that the key to success is to keep learning FUN!!! The more fun you’re having, the more you’ll want to play! The more you play, the better you get - which only increases the Fun!!! 
Also, if you haven’t already, get a stand or wall hanger for your guitar. When it’s easy to pick up & strum, you’ll find that you play more frequently! I like to use those few minutes while waiting for something, like when the coffee 
is brewing!
