I’ve been learning from Justin for about 14 months now. I’m doing both acoustic and electric, and I enjoy writing original songs as well. I’m currently working my way through Justin’s 4th grade intermediate level.
Welcome to the community Jay. Just watched the video you post. Really enjoyed the song
Welcome to the community buddy, I also just listened to your new song, it’s great!
Hello Jay! I‘ve watched your Bogey‘s Store video four times in a row and played along with it as well. A simple yet catchy and memorable guitar part and sad but often so true lyrics! Can’t believe you only play for 14 months (or have you played before?).
Glad to get to know you!
Cheers,
Martin
Hello and welcome to the community Jay.
I’ll go and have a look at your video later.
Thanks, Martin. I played some about 25 years ago, and some of that did stick with me.
Wow, that is a really great song. Love the lyrics, the story, the chorus, your singing…. You’ve done something special there, Jay.
Hi Jay, nice to see you! I’m super new here (and to guitar) so I can’t really ‘welcome’ you, but I do look forward to seeing more from you and gaining knowledge and inspiration
Hey Jay good to have you join us. We’d love to hear you play
Hello Jay and a very warm welcome to the community.
Hi Jay
Good to see you here, think I said that elsewhere but heck this your official intro! Great to see you made it over and looking forward to more original work from you. Always good subject matter turned into a pleasing story by a talented story teller. Oh and the guitar bits is always up there as well.
Cheers
Toby
Jay, I’m Kevin, in Redmond, WA. Started with Justin a little over a year ago after a 40 year lay off. My parents “let” me take classical guitar lessons, but I never really took to it. Slow going for me now - sluggish neural connections. But if you’re ever up to jamming with someone inferior, teaching an old dog, or just chatting, let me know.
kevdabrewer@msn.com Cheers.
Hi Kevin and welcome
Things may feel a bit slower with a later in life start but once you get into stretching and repeating techniques, you will wonder what the problem was ! Its unfortunate that latency inhibits online jamming but hey someone may be up in your neck of the woods. And with a email name like that, if there’s no jamming reckon you may just have to share a beer or two.
Cheers
Toby
Toby, Thanks for the introduction and positive vibes. Thought I’d give you the history of my email address. In 1995 I built, owned, and operated the Captains City Brewery in Coupeville, Washington and actually took home a gold medal from the Great American Beer Festival for my “Skookum” stout. Hence the brewer reference. Still enjoying the learning on Justin and am looking to up my game in playing songs in the next few months.
Cheers, Kevin
Thanks for that Kevin, seems my suspicions were closer than I thought. Skookum sounds great and I love a good stout, where’s the name come from ? I am sure Justin will have you playing some songs pretty soon and if he doesn’t we will !
Hey Kevin,
Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner.
I’d love to get together for jam sessions. I totally understand what you said about how learning new things gets much harder when you’re older. My neurologist said changing the brain when young is like molding putty; changing it when old is like chipping away at concrete.
I’ll send a pm and we can exchange information for getting together.
Jay
