JGC Open Mic 32 Redux - Baroque

Following my first timer appearance at JGC Open Mic 32 last weekend, I have recorded a take of the Joe Satriani song Baroque that I played, having ramped up the shimmer reverb and replaced the fear of playing to a live online audience to just the fear of pressing a record button on my phone:

Baroque

I hope you enjoy this rather more spacey and relaxed take on the song and thank you once again to everyone who listened in to the live event and made me and everyone else who performed feel so welcome and appreciated :slightly_smiling_face:

I liked this one too David! The spacey reverb and relaxed playing were :+1:

I’ve not heard much Satriani, but now I’m going to queue some up!

Nice Dave I liked the use of effects. It is good to see you again. I wish I had not missed the open mic. That is super cool you participated. Perhaps I can get myself proficient enought to join by next year. Lol.

I can only say again, David, that the audience probably appreciated your OM peformance more than you did. And I for one, can’t now recall being distracted by any small mistakes you may/likely made. That seems par for the course. We all recount our disappintment i these performance due to making what feels to us as obvious and super-distracting mistakes and the audience then not noticing. And sometimes when I watch a recording, I realise what felt massive in the moment, was a minor momentary blip which was barely noticeable and never disrupted the flow of my play. Anyhow, enough rambling on about Saturday.

That was a wonderful performance. Watching your fingers dance up and down the fretboard is a treat. I’m not really a fan of Satriani and that style of guitar, recall Surfing With the Alien, which was OK.

For my taste, I think the shimmer and reverb in this ‘thin’ the sound out a little. Think I’d prefer the piece, a wee bit drier, fuller. But that is my personal taste and maybe should have been kept to myself.

I still enjoyed the performance. Thanks for sharing it with us.
