Thanks for the tips Ruaridh. I really am not going to focus on singing though, I’ll just bumble along .

…well first thing is playing guitar just to play guitar and enjoying it much resonated with me…

I’m glad it did Silvia, so much of life is about working hard, making something of it - just enjoying doing and getting better at something without pressure is refreshing. I’ve found that whenever I try to get too serious about practice I end up hating it!

I think your point about playing because you enjoy it is spot on. I feel similarly these days. Yes, I still like to try to and learn new skills, but it’s slower and at my own pace. I also realized that my enjoyment is in the songwriting space.

Hey Jen, yeah I think we did start around the same time. Interesting you’ve reached a similar conclusion - playing for fun - even though what scratches your itch is different than mine. I think if I had a ready to go band at home I might do more original stuff . Or even just more electric songs that sound better with a drum backing.

jkahn, I’m looking forward to seeing you at the next OM. Can’t wait. Everyone gets ‘good days’ and ‘bad days’ where they either play well or don’t feel like it. Sometimes life just gets in the way of all the fun. I hate when that happens. I’d say go for the singing at OM. Unless you’re super flat/off key

Hey Jim, thanks for commenting. Don’t worry, my performance will definitely be off pitch and occasionally off key, but I find that lyrics make a performance more interesting. So I did it anyway . Looking forward to seeing you at the OM. I’ve done a few in the past but haven’t in at least 18 months, I think.
