Just got myself an SG!

Went into the guitar shop looking for a colourful Squier Tele or a Strat, but being a left handed player, my options weren’t as many as I’d hoped. I asked the owner of the shop about left handed guitars and he showed me a blackout SG.

At first it looked too metal for me, I play blues and David Gilmour inspired stuff primarily. I was definitely not looking this particular SG.

But then i plugged it in and the tone really really surprised me, felt very comfortable too. The tuners are upgraded to Grover. The guitar is manufactured in Indonesia in 2011. It’s in a literal 10/10 condition, if i wasn’t told it’s used, I wouldn’t have guessed it.

So long story short, I now have a black-on-black Epiphone SG, this is my second guitar, so I guess I have a “collection” now  feels like an upgrade over my Harley Benton.

Anybody else playing less hardcore stuff on a SG?

Snap!! I just recently got a left handed Epi SG Standard (cherry 2022). Managed to pick it up s/h from a guitar shop including hard case. Absolutely love it. I`m definitely less hardcore at the moment though -playing mainly clean and going through Justins course -L2. Easy lightweight to just pick up and play.
I also have a LP (copy) nice but its too darned heavy for my injured shoulder
Enjoy it looks smart in black

Nice, enjoy

I have an SG also. My opinion is that you can play almost anything on almost any guitar really (some are more readily suited to certain styles than others for sure). The SG is a good choice for anyone wanting a lightweight electric guitar

I tend towards AC/DC and the blues class playing mine, but I was surprised to see the SG turn up in photos where I didn’t expect it.

I have the Epiphone SG Modern. It has split coils and phase inverter options on the pull knobs. I had it for months before I really started to understand how to get the pickup options to really be useful.

Yours has the knobs on the wrong side. :upside_down_face:

Nice score Teodor!

Welcome to the club of more than one guitar  . Ya know it is a sickness though…

I don’t have a SG. :frowning: Wish I did though. I could see a SG being on my short list of wants for another guitar.
But I do have a reverend double agent w. It don’t look like something that ya’d play less hardcore stuff on it, but that’s what I do. Mellow music on a rock and roll looking guitar. It’s fun and I can dial it in just fine for mellow music.

imho, be sure to take advantage of the vol. tone controls for ea. pickup. I really dig having separate tone and vol. for ea. You can dial in some real sweet tones with that setup I think. I have a casino with them controls and I don’t think I hardly ever play with all controls @ 10. Just food for thought.

Congrats man! Ya did well.

Less hard core on SG, how about a Disturbed Simon & Garfunkel

COngrats on the new axe!! I play an old Epiphone SG that I bought in Mozambique for $150. Upgraded the pick ups and . . .it’s an electric. I am happy with it, although I’ve had the guitar for years, I’ve always been an acoustic sort of a guy until recently. I am enjoying discovering new things about playing an electric at the moment. Mostly, I am playing blues oriented stuff on it at the minute.

Enjoy the new instrument!! It looks like a beaut!!

So badass, happy NGD!

Amazing guitar, I love how it feels and sounds. Tried one (Epiphone) in London Gibson shop and played it for 45 minutes without noticing. Happy NGD.

Congratulations! Love SGs, have one myself and it’s an amazing guitar. You can play anything on it, don’t have to be only heavy riffs and screaming solos. Very versatile, very comfortable and such a cool looking guitar!
