Hello all. Quick question on the app, can you also get this for windows? Be great if we could as seeing in the phone is getting harder ![]()
not as far as I know. I tried using a windows emulator ( Bluestacks) Worked ok but a bit hit and miss.
Thanks for the quick reply I think I’ll get a tablet one day ![]()
music stuff is what finally convinced me to get a tablet.
Yep agreed eyes fading looking at the phone makes life twice as difficult.
That’s not an important reason for me (yet), but it’s so nice to be able to have music available to play anywhere as long as I have my tablet. I’ve got over 4,000 songs saved onto it. So no huge binder full of songs.
then there’s justin’s app, access to the website content, and so on. Can record myself with it. I use it as my e-reader when I travel. I can find more songs to put into my personal library.
Oh I’m way way of that yet I’m only like 12 or so days in from starting. One day I’ll get there. I’m aiming for 12 months to be able to play chords and songs and one day solo that’s my goal
Try mirroring your phone to a smart tv.
I got a mini PC for my tv. 55in monitor is easy on the eyes. That doesn’t help with apps but it works great for watching lesson or reading sheet music.
Indeed. I do all my guitar stuff on an iPad. My entire music library is stored on it along with a great range of apps such as Justin’s app, Yousician, Moises, GarageBand and YouTube. It’s connected via USB-C to an audio interface and it all works great. I use Apple Notes for all of my song notes.
The main omission as far as I am concerned is a proper version of Guitar Pro - I’m sure they said it was coming but that announcement was probably around a year ago. You’re also more limited on choice of DAW if that’s your thing. Overall though, compared to trying to use an emulator on Windows, it’s much less flaky. I won’t pretend that it’s the solution for everyone but it works for me
Stitch that’s an epic idea why didn’t I think of that! Brilliant thanks for replying ![]()
Ah Moises and a DAW yeah I use a focusrite scarlet solo transcribe and reaper. I love transcribe allows me to slow the track down in the correct pitch. Had this for when I played bass
An android emulator will get the app working on PC. It’s a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a tablet (ie, free) and has far, far better sound quality. Plus the other advantages of being on PC, like being able to record your play-alongs if you have an audio interface.
Don’t know what problems you had, but the JG app worked perfectly for me with Bluestacks throughout my subscription. Never had a single problem with it.
Thanks Goffik, yet another great idea. Thanks for the reply
the tablet isn’t really a replacement for all the functions of a pc. It’s more of a supplement that extends capabilities. It’ll do basic recording a WHOLE LOT easier than a pc will. And a Focusrite can still connect to at least some tablets, such as an ipad.
I like to use apps that offer windows AND tablet functionality. For example, my songbook is synced to the cloud, and I can access it from any device I have.
The biggest advantage of the tablet is portability and the ability to just put it on any music stand wherever.
Yeah, I cast to my TV sometimes, too. That’s REALLY handy when we’ve got several people over trying to play the same stuff. Sometimes do it through a laptop and sometimes do it from a tablet or a phone. Using a mini pc to avoid the additional lag issues that often crop up with casting would be pretty handy.
Some banging answers today and I thank you all wish I had someone I could jam with in the future who knows ![]()
There is no way that a Windows PC running a janky android emulator has better sound quality than my M4 iPad Pro
A cable from laptop to tv would probably be a cheaper solution for that.
yeah but a super long cable draping down off the tv in front of the fireplace and across the room when several people are standing around playing is a wee bit of a tripping hazard. And we only pull out the laptop for the purpose when the tablet is otherwise unavailable, anyway. A mini PC is small enough that it could live on a little shelf tucked behind the TV out of sight.
Sorry about the confusion! The app isn’t supported on Windows, which can cause some features (like scrolling) to behave unexpectedly.
For the best experience and full access to all songs and features, we recommend using the app on a mobile device.
Thanks for this and the recommendation ![]()
