I was really excited to see Justin visiting the Gracies and was hoping to hear discussions related to the parallels between BJJ and guitar. Instead, I watched another infomercial for Gracie Jiu Jitsu. Notice how neither of the brothers took interest in Justin and how amazing he is at his craft. They just spouted the same old rehearsed lines they have for years. They are pitchmen. Yes they are very good, but their main interest is lining their pockets.
I have been in the BJJ game for 25 years and guitar for only 5. I just wish they would have talked to Justin more about the process of guitar instead of using the platform to pitch their program. Kudos to Justin for being humble and letting them spout their rhetoric.
Interesting. Justin seems to be a very gracious person. I am glad he has taken the art seriously. I tend think of Justin as my Sifu. He might even cringe at that. But for me it is obviously a sign of respect, I feel that way of many of the instructors. I know, different style but that was my style so…
I remember when I first started hearing about the Gracies in the mid or late 90s or so. There was a lot of strange and weird stories about them in the martial arts and fighting world. They certainly made a name for themselves over the years.
