JustinGuitar Community Open Mic events - the (Master of Ceremonies) MC role & more

Hi everybody. :grinning_face:
If you have taken part in a JustinGuitar Open Mic this request may be for you.

We are blessed to have a small group of good people that we can call upon to act as MC for our Open Mic events. People who are engaged, engaging, reliable and who know the way our open Mics operate.

So far we have had the following Community members take the role.
@DavidP - @Rossco01 - @brianlarsen - @Notter - @Jenndye429 - @eric.lennon - @jkahn - @Malz - @Richtrfc (co-hosted with Brian) - @Richard_close2u

We would like to call upon you, performers and / or audience alike, the wonderful and supportive folk who help make our Open Mics so successful, to find a few more people willing and able to step into the MC role.

We have previously had a few tentative backroom conversations with people who did express an interest. We welcome and invite those people, and others, to please get in touch if interested.

These conversations will be better if done away from the public gaze where no pressure will be felt and there will be no obligation to commit so please respond via Direct Message. Please bear in mind too that volunteering itself is not a guarantee of being given an MC slot.

Many thanks in advance.
Richard on behalf of the Open Mic Steering Group:
@adi_mrok - Adrian
@DavidP - David
@jkahn - JK
@LievenDV - Lieven
@Richard_close2u - Richard
@Rossco01 - Jason

As we approach the end of 2025, and mark 35 Open Mic events, we turn our attention to the coming year.

I’m delighted to announce that the post I made above asking if anybody would like to volunteer to host one or more future Open Mics in the role of MC led to three positive responses. Hopefully they will be ready and able in 2026.

I hope to announce their names soon … and to further request if anybody else wants to participate and support us in this way.

Thank you.

Further …

Can I also ask if anyone would like to help in a behind-the-scenes role?

Shall I call the role, ‘Spotlight Technician’ and make it sound all fancy and wonderful!!

During the Zoom meeting we use the Spotlight function to bring, alternately, the MC, then the performers, to the central view … bring them on to the ‘stage’. This is a simple task though does require some concentration in terms of finding the right people at the right time. If you are already familiar with Zoom you may know how the tools work already. If not, we could easily and quickly train you to do it.

Thanks
Richard
