Im sune therenis nothing wrong with the amp ,im just doing something wrond for sure.
Is there are specific protocol for shooting off andbturning back on im missing here?
Hello Emil.
Turn the power control knob to βStandbyβ before you switch the amp off.
When you switch the amp back on, leave it on Standby until the lights come on then turn it up.
I am not an expert on amplifiers but my katana 50 also had a lot of noise. It sounded just like yours when I was on the crunch channel like you had selected.
Many experience guitar players simply said this is a high gain amplifier and the noise is just part of amplifiers. However, I have read many articles over the years that indicate all amplifiers are not created equal in terms of noise. There are ways to design amplifiers to reduce noise but typically these are design options that include a cost trade off.
Couple comments about the noise gate. When I first found that feature, it seemed like the solution you mentioned but when I played finger style, the NG really affected the sustain and softer notes.
The second comment is that I had to connect to a PC to turn the NG on or off. Kind of cumbersome. I always wish there had been a front panel option to turn it on and off.
I mainly played on a clean channel with the gain knob set low and the volume adjusted higher. This controlled the noise for the most part but the main reason I sold the Katana was because of that noise.
Thank you, ueah for me the noize is really only when i turn the amp.on,other wise its really good sound ,for that amp anyway, i wont upgrade to more expensive one for long itme ,so.i find katana be at the sweet spotbetween decent performance and not having to remordgage my house LOL.
