Hi, when trying to access a song lesson on the website I get a box telling me to log on incase I am a bot? I’m already logged in. Now unable to play any song?
I keep having this issue too. The best solution I could figure out was to select the song title on the very top of the video. It will take me to YouTube then. I searched around some on how to resolve the issue but was unsuccessful. @Richard_close2u @DavidP have any of the administrators been notified of this?
Hi @AndyB1 and @pkboo3, this problem has already been discussed in different topics on this forum. It’s not a JG thing - it’s a youtube thing. It happens on all kinds of webpages with embedded videos, not just on JG.
A workaround when you get that message is:
-
reload the page to get rid of the message
-
click on ‘watch on youtube’ in the bottom left hand corner of the video - this will take you to youtube
Annoying, but not something the JG team can solve, I’m afraid.
Hey everyone,
Our DevOps team identified that this issue is coming from YouTube’s side, possibly due to your IP address or tracking settings. Unfortunately, we cannot fix this directly on our end right now, but we will be looking into other possible solutions if this persits.
In the meantime, please try the following to access the video:
- Switch browsers or update your current browser.
- Clear your browser’s cache.
- If you’re using a VPN, try switching servers.
- For Chrome users, try accessing the video in Incognito mode.
Embedded videos don’t show ads.
YouTube wants you to go to their website so they can show ads.
That’s right, YouTube wants us to look at 3 min advertisement first so we can see 6 min video. It is getting worse all the time. Then the offer you to pay to get rid of the advertisements. have found out, using VPN different countries, that the amount and art of ads changes. Then they also want you to logg in to a google account so the can trace everything! I.e. the want to force you!
Hello – I was experiencing the same log in problem until I turned off my VPN (Norton). With the VPN off this issue has gone away, and JG lessons from the web site play without problem. Hope this helps.
I have had this same issue lately but it didn’t show up until I updated my IPad and YouTube software.
Getting really frustrated now. Same thing every time - sign in to confirm you’re not a bot. Song and lessons won’t play. Tried the reload advice. Didn’t work. can’t find a watch on you tube button that’s been mentioned. Getting hacked off now…
I can tell you what works for me… this is on iPhone, your mileage may vary.
So I was getting the same issue when trying to view one of the videos of someone playing. Tried various things but when I press and hold the white text “Sweet Home Chicago Cover”
…after a second I’m presented with these choices
…with the “Open in YouTube” video playing it in the YouTube app. It would be more convenient if it just played in the web page but at least, for me, this works. Also I do have YouTube Premium so I can’t say if it results in more ads or not as I never get any
Andrew @AndyB1, on laptop/desktop, there are 2 options after reloading: clicking on ‘watch on youtube’ in the bottom left hand corner, or clicking on the video title as shown in de video screen itself, not above.
For smartphone, Matt gave you the workaround.
Good luck!
Thanks but…hopefully you can see by the screen shot there is no you tube option box in the bottom corner or the video title. I am able to watch on you tube but hate the adverts. I really don’t understand why on Justins website I’m told to log on when I already am. Surely you tube can’t be blamed for that? Sorry!
Have you tried an Ad Blocker?
Might solve your problem and in any case will make youtube much more pleasurable.
Actually it is purely a YouTube problem. What you see on the website, is an embedded video that is not hosted on the JG website, but on youtube. It’s like a link to youtube, only it doesn’t take you to their website, but plays in the window on the JG website. It is not asking you to log into your JG account, but into your Google account (and thus YouTube). That’s why the problem does not only occur on the JG website, but on loads of websites with embedded videos.
An ad blocker doesn’t help with the ‘please log in’ problem, but it does help with the ads on youtube. There are free ad blockers around that do the trick.
The screenshot you posted is not of a lesson, and not of a video, but of the header picture of the module. Therefore, it is perfectly normal you don’t see the ‘watch on youtube’ option - I don’t either. Could you just see if it shows on the videos of the individual lessons, e.g. https://www.justinguitar.com/guitar-lessons/e-shape-barre-chords-major-4b-001?
Ah! I think I’ve got it. Found the You tube link. Thanks very much. I was going nuts trying to sort it…
