I cannot find this song on the app. I have the app and am subscribed. Any ideas? Thank you.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for Knocking on Heaven Door. Justin, your tutorial was excellent! Also thanks for the embellishments tab. It is just helpful even for everyday practice
I have been waiting for this one for a long time. I know the chords are easy, but the rhythm always tripped me when watching other peopleās lessons on YouTube. Plus, I trust Justin, more than those other people. ![]()
Songs on the App come and go due to licencing. Sadly that has gone now.
R.
It is very difficult to play the part with C and Am when you not hit the strings or just play a few up strums and still be in the right tempo with the foot. What would somebody here suggest. Just play the song with eight notes at a bar for now?
Really great lesson from Justin. Would love to have this song on the app!
Just cant get this strumming pattern and the rhythm. Does not compute and my hands dont seem to be connected to my ears or my brainā¦
Hi there!
I donāt get why the tabs for the embellishments have just 3 beats to the bar? Is it because you could put them in the actual bar where you like? But then why bother writing down the quarter note strum?
Great courses and tutorials by the way. Havenāt regret a bit having changed from another platform. ![]()
and is it just me or are the embellishments Justin plays in the video different from those in the tabs?
Zot! So the trick to a smooth chord transition is to begin the change just before the last up strum of the measure, thereby catching open strings on the up strum.
Iām sure this has been said before, but it just know has sunk into my (very) thick skull.
Can you please put this song on your App with band and Vocals/
I can see putting it on your App was requested in January 2023, more than 2 years ago. Many thanks.
Still continuing to have a heck of time transitioning to a D chord. My tendency continues to be to place my first two fingers down (almost as an anchor) before putting down the third, and this really ends up disrupting the rhythm. Progressing from the G with the pinky down on the thinnest string makes it a tad easier (again, because itās sort of an anchor) but still very difficult placing my fingers down simultaneously. Anyone have any tips for this?
Try this Drew:
Hold your fingers near to but not touching the strings.
Touch the fingers where the chord is but do not press.
Once you have all three touching at the correct place then press them down.
Do not strum - this is a fretting hand exercise only.
Release the pressure after a few seconds but keep touching the strings.
Then move your hand away from the strings by a small amount. All fingers away.
Repeat the process.
Then, to improve changes to and from the chosen chord and other commonly grouped chords, repeat the above process with one alteration. After the final step of lifting all fingers away, the next cycle would be to move fingers over the chord that you are changing to. Once that chord has been done and fingers are lifted away, go back to the first chord of the pair.
Wash, rinse, repeat. Make this exercise last about five minutes.
Example - D chord plus some associated chords
1 minute - D alone
1 minute - D & G
1 minute - D and C
1 minute - D and Em
1 minute - D alone
Practice daily and within a week you will be smashing it.
Hope that helps.

I guess we should read āTouch the strings [ā¦]ā
The exercise you gave last year helped me:

Thanks for the response.
So when you say āhold your fingers near to but not touching the strings,ā are you saying make the shape just hovered over the chords, and then try to touch the string simultaneously w/ the correct fingers? I can sort of get my first 2 fingers down at the same time, but itās that third that always wants to come down after.
Yes, just that.

In that case, try my exercise that @Cyril_fr kindly linked in his reply immediately above.
