Land Of Confusion (Phil Collins) - cover

Hello guys and girls!
I’m sorry that I haven’t been here for a long time. But the moody old lady Life still isn’t going to get any happier
Phil Collins is 75 years old today, and I can’t help but post my cover of this great song by him. It turned out a little gloomy, but that’s how it is.
Any constructive criticism is welcome,
Leo

Lyrics:
Land of Confusion
[Verse 1]
I must’ve dreamed a thousand dreams
Been haunted by a million screams
But I can hear the marching feet
They’re moving into the street
Now, did you read the news today?
They say the danger’s gone away
But I can see the fire’s still alight
There, burning into the night

[Pre-Chorus]
There’s too many men
Too many people
Making too many problems
And there’s not much love to go ‘round
Can’t you see
This is a land of confusion?

[Chorus]
This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we’re given
Use them, and let’s start trying
To make it a place worth living in

[Verse 2]
Oh, Superman, where are you now?
When everything’s gone wrong somehow
The men of steel, these men of power
Are losing control by the hour

[Pre-Chorus]
This is the time
This is the place
So, we look for the future

But there’s not much love to go ‘round
Tell me why this is a land of confusion

[Chorus]
This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we’re given
Use them and let’s start trying
To make it a place worth living in

[Bridge]
I remember long ago
Ooh, when the sun was shining
And all the stars were bright
All through the night
In the wake of this madness
As I held you tight
So long ago

SOLO

[Verse 3]
I won’t be coming home tonight
My generation will put it right
We’re not just making promises
That we know we’ll never keep

[Pre-Chorus]
Too many men
Too many people
Making too many problems
And not much love to go ‘round
Can’t you see
This is a land of confusion?

[Outro]
Now, this is the world we live in
And these are the hands we’re given
Use them, and let’s start trying
To make it a place worth fighting for
This is the world we live in
And these are the names we’re given
Stand up and let’s start showing
Just where our lives are going to

Cool solo near the end. I really enjoyed that. Nice metal style, definitely era approved for sure. :sign_of_the_horns:t2:

Poor Phil Collins he is not doing too well these day. What a great run he had. Thanks for posting.

Sounding good Leo, hope things are not too bad in St P. Always a pleasure to see your rare post these days but life for sure is getting more and more complicated. Take care.

Old Leo pic for all the newbies

Excellent stuff although, if you don’t mind me saying, it feels mixed a little hot too me.

I was glad I saw Genesis perform this at their last tour in 2021, although Phil wasn’t in great health then, but they had fun with the graphics on the massive video wall behind them, given the concert had to be rescheduled due to the pandemic.

It’s great song, and is as relevant today as it ever was.

Cheers,

Keith

Hi Leo, I’m not really able to provide any criticism, it just sounds awesome! Fingers crossed this old Lady Life gets wiser with age and may bring some serenity :crossed_fingers:

That’s an awesome job Leo! You are a very talented arranger - kept the spirit of the original but totally put your own spin on it.

It’s great to see another song come in from you Leo.
Life is a complicated journey to navigate for sure.
One thing that seems steady - you’re still rocking. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Thank you Jason!
Well, I don’t find it very difficult. I would rate the difficulty level as 4 out of 5

Thank you, my friend!
Music is very helpful in life, and you know it well yourself :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you Phil.
But there are much more talented musicians here who compose their own original music. And I’m not very good at it
