● I got my first cheap accustic guitar (tiger in white) and started learning guitar in october 2024 with yousician.
● Got to level 2 and got a cheap electric guitar set new (pink and white cheap stratocaster amp etc after a month of learning.
● I got to level 3 on yousician and learned about setting up guitar from justin on youtube, which lead me to realise 2 of my straddles treads had gone when i tried to alter action. Because they dropped down further it wasnt playable anymore. The next day i came across another cheap stratocaster (bluerock in blue) for £30 on a second hand market completly by accident. So i played that to get me by until the saddles came.
● Once the saddles came i put them on and adgusted action i realised i want to learn fixing and maintaining my guitars and how rewarding it is.
● Got to level 4 on yousician and found justins beginner course as i need more explaining in videos and since following justins videos ive improved loads.
● Had a yamaha F310 accustic guitar given to me by a family friend and i much prefere that to my tiger accustic.
● Currently in the process of writing my own first song. I have the chords, rhythem, lyrics, bpm. I just need the melody for the lyrics which im working on but im very proud of it up to now.
● Tonight I played Linkin Park - In The End completly on yousician and got full gold stars through out. That was the first song i ever attempted and i can now say i can play it.
I can do loosing my religeon by r.e.m the basic cowboy chords one. Im nearly getting gold on it all but sometimes that f is tricky still. I had a go of eminem love the way you lie the other day level 5 and that one is fun to play too. Good for strumming practice and still basic chords too.
That is true and i do but i been practicing that song enough where i have collected lots of the stars on it. It sounds good appart from that f chord sometimes but thats my finger placement and will get better with that f chord the more i practice
Thank you, yeah i will check them out. Ive been educating myself on the different pick ups too as im going to use the blue rock guitar to practice upgrading and maitenence. Ive added the pictures from fixing the saddles (i did all of them). Before, during and after. Still cant believe the guitar came new with the threads already gone in them.
You are learning a lot about guitar maintenance by having several guitars and working on them yourself. All I have learned to do is to change the strings and tighten the nuts on my strat’s jack
Thank you, i never intended on doing the maintence side of it but yeah realised i like it and the rewarding feeling after. Im going be changing the string trees tuneing pegs and the nut on the blue rock one for practice soon and to upgrade so hopefully that goes as good as the saddles did lol. Its worth you looking into too as i only knew how do the strings before i was forsed into fixing the saddles lol.
Yesterday my stats for the week came in on yousician. Days and playtime are lower than usual because of christmas day but thats okay.
Over last week my strumming has improved alot more but i have been thinking about maybe needing a routine in practicing like chords and strumming on one day then riff and melody another day etc etc just so im learning each part equally and not favouriting one thing like strumming or picking etc. Also my F chords is getting a little better too but deffinatly lots of improvement to be made there still.
As for my first song, i have now put the chords in the places i think they should be to the lyrics but still struggleing on a melody for the lyrics. I never planned to write my own songs but while watching justin on youtube i came across his how to write a song video and with my finch passing away a couple of months ago it just came to me to do it about him. I think the chords fit nicely with the mood of the song. So this week i want to hopefully come up with the melody to the lyrics for my song.
