Looking back at an old recording - progress?

Did I play this right?
Sometimes you just can’t believe how bad you are, but to get better…you keep playing?!?

Is that an impossible question? Do you mean did you play it like Neil Young? No not quite Did I recognize the song even though you didn’t tell me what it was? Yes, almost immediately

Did I enjoy it? Oh yes.
Did you feel a sense of accomplishment watching this back? Well I can tell you I would have.
Sounds :+1:

Hi Robert,
I have no idea if you’re playing it “right” and I don’t know the song, but it surely sounds really good to me

No idea if it’s right or not. What it is, is recognizable. This to me is a plus. Many songs I (try) to do meet this criteria. imho, many songs that we do, others do, rock stars do as covers to me are renditions. The said song is recognizable, but ea. musician puts their own flavor on it.
Variety is the spice of life I think…

Nice rendition man and fun to hear you cover it.

fwiw, I surely go back and do the same song I did before. Some of them I have proof that I did them before. Genereally, I feel, my second attempt is progressive. I get better at doing them. That said. Myself, sometimes, I feel I hit a brick wall too and my renditions are only a shade better than I did it the first time. But I’ll take any progress for my playing that I can do. It seems to be a long journey Robert…

ps. Have ya got a 1st version of this song you did that is recorded? If so, perhaps put it up too then we can have something to compare to… I’ve done this with the song Helplessly Hoping. I think I got three versions posted up here. Whether I progressed or not… shrug. Probably, but just not as much as I’d hoped I’d moved fwd. This is referring to my renditions.

Thanks for sharing and keep 'em coming.

Yes, you played it right. Just right for you and fun for this listener. If you were busking in the plaza, I would toss some money in your guitar case.

If it sounds right, it is right! Your performance sounds really good with variationns to the strum / picking pattern and staying in time. Very enjoyable.

I love this song, one of my favourites to play, Robert. I think you played it right and enjoyed all the vibes you brought with different strumming, muting etc. Vocal was sung with feeling. Was the melody spot on and same as the original? Not sure as my ear is not good enough to assess that. It did feel good, playing and singing, so all is well as far as I am concerned.

You did a great job . I believe you should sound like you playing not someone else.

I thought your guitar play was really good Robert. Lots of dynamics in your strumming style. Picked notes, mutes etc. great stuff.
You made the song your own with your vocal. No one can sound like NY so no point trying to do a copy. Much better to add your own flavour, which you did.

TO EVERYONE OF YOU,
I feel blessed.
Thx Justin S.

But thank you good people…in a fix at 64, might need you to the very end…but not if I do it myself!
