Looking for a Jam Buddy for a student :)

Hi Community,

I’m reaching out on behalf of Michael, a 26-year-old university student from the US. He completed Grade 1 last year, started Grade 2, but dropped off along the way. He’s now eager to get back into a consistent practice routine.

Michael is into rock (The Strokes, Pink Floyd, The Beatles) and he’d love to connect with a virtual Study Buddy to share progress and stay motivated.

If you’re interested in connecting with him, simply reply here or send me a DM and I’ll help you get in touch!

Thanks for supporting each other,
Fanny

Hi Fanny,
Virtual jamming is not really feasible with time lag.
Would you think of encouraging Mike to introduce himself to the community and possibly share a recording of where he’s at?
He’ll get much more interaction and support that way.
Even if he’s looking for someone to interact with on a one-to-one basis, his chances of success will be much higher than simply a stab in the dark.
If he’s too shy to join the Community, I’m happy for you to pass on my contact details, to have a chat with him about it

Hi Fanny! I don’t think I will be able to jam with him remotely (latency and stuff), but I am happy to share the journey with him, since I am probably at the same level!

Could potentially do collab recordings. but agree that online jamming is difficult to pull off. One guy I know runs an online jam, but it’s one-way. As in, he is the leader of the jam and broadcasts live (on Facebook). He shows video/audio of himself playing but also has the songsheet scrolling in the feed for others to follow along.

Even then, latency issues crop up, but it’s manageable in a one-way situation like that.

Agree that knowing a location would help - an in-person jam buddy is probably a better idea.
