Its always 42 Mr Prefect !
T-6 before the family arrives but looking forward to it.
Thanks Stefan, yes a bit of fun with the names. I nearly went with Back to December for the first one but decided some Manc menace was more in line with blowing the windows out !
As to the Hotel Cali spin, I don’t think I’ve played that straight in 20 years. A friend taught me it when I had my first bash at learning, mainly so he could solo it. A good blues player who was in a group with Jeremy Spence in the 60s who could play it blindfold. Took me ages to be able to keep on playing on the beat, while he played the solo lines. Now I just use the progression as a bit of amusement, for funk, reggae, punk and generally messing with patterns and styles. All good for cementing different rhythms without being serious all the time
Cheers Mark. The the NYLSB tone was good but something wasn’t quite there for me. So as I have said I scratched them all and will revisit but something along those lines will be a cert for sure.
Yeah good to mess around and play a range of things to see how the new box shapes up.
The Pete Green tone I built around clean AC30 with a 4x12" MESA/Boogie 4FB V30 cab, Line 6 compressor, Line 6 Vintage Digital delay and Chamber reverb. EQ with mid bias.
The Iron Maiden preset was a 3rd party product based around a Marshal JSM 800 but the cabinet was based on a Marshall 1960 4x12 loaded with Celestion G12T75, Ibanez Tubescreamer, Chorus which I disabled on the D of D track, Chamber reverb.
Just did a bit of tweaking here and there to get a tone I liked for the session but unsure about keeping them, so decided to rebuild which is vey simple. And I now found some very nice amps and cabs that will be a good place to start. And now see why @Kasper favours the Celestion speakers for his Helix. So may have to do a little shopping.
Can send the signal chains if you are interested ?
Cheers
Toby
Thanks Toby,
Yes, send it to me, I will be very grateful. But I’m unlikely to use it in the near future - after all, I know Mike
And he will definitely need it more than me, so I will inform him later.

I’ll drop you a mail.
I didn’t quite get if you’ve been experimenting with using IRs on the PodGo, or if you used/tweaked a Line6 cab based on Celestions? I use IR files, which can be bought from the Celestion web site in packs. Each pack is a speaker + cab configuration (ex; 25W Greenbacks, loaded in a closed-back 4x12 cab)… and each pack then contains a bunch of IR files… for various mic placement and mic combinations.
On the PodGo you have to upload those (dragging them onto slots, using the PC editor) and then you can change the “Cab” block to “IR” and in the properties select the IR file to use.
They are not dirt cheap, but also not too bad (around 15 euro per speaker pack)… Obviously not meant to be shared, but if you’re interested I think it would be a fair “try before you buy” if I sent you one or two files, for your favorite speaker model / cab config. Drop me a line if this is something you want to experiment with - if nothing else, to compare how they sound compared to how you like to dial the Line6 cab atm…
Kasper
Thanks for the offer to try. I’ve yet to visit the Celestion website. But bought a couple of packages from ChopTone and the bundles includes different presets and IRs and the latter had a few Celestion based cabs and sounded really good. For example
CT_ESV1_IR02 Vox 2x12 loaded with Celestion Alnico Blue speakers, Neumann U87 + Royer R-121 for microphoning
CT_LoneV1_IR01
Based on a Mesa Boogie 2x12 TA loaded with Celestion Blackshadow speakers, Beyerdynamic M160 + Royer R121 for microphoning, API channel preamp.
CT_LoneV1_IR02
Based on an Zilla 2x12 loaded with Celestion Creamback M65, Sennheiser MD421+ Beyerdynamic M160 for microphoning, Chandler Germanium preamp.
CT_LoneV1_IR03
Based on a Mesa Boogie 2x12 standard loaded with Celestion V30 speakers, Beyerdynamic M160 + Royer R121 for microphoning, Neve 1073 preamp.
CT_LoneV2_IR01
Based on a Mesa Boogie 2x12 Standard loaded with Celestion V30 speakers, Beyerdynamic M160 + Royer R121 for microphoning, Neve 1073 preamp.
CT_LoneV2_IR02
Based on a Mesa Boogie 2x12 Standard loaded with Celestion V30 speakers, Shure SM57 + Royer R121 for microphoning, Chandler Germanium preamp.
Whether these would be as good as the Celestion original IRs I would doubt if I could tell but I have 45 new presets using a combination of the above ( though a handful use this * CT_ESV1_IR01 Marshall 425 4x12 loaded with Marshall G12C speakers, Sennheiser E609 + Royer R-121 for microphoning.) but they gave me a cheek splitting stupid grin earlier in the week when I took for a test drive !
It might be better for you to evaluate these against the originals and I could stick them in the cloud but most of the blew me away.
As you can see, one happy
