He was fascinating. Riding a traditional bicycle across the Nullabor is no mean feat. From Port Agusta in South Australia to Norseman in West Australia is 1,675km. He is married, said his wife stayed in Canberra while he trekked on his bike.
A day or so later, it was raining (this was fairly cold weather too) and I drove past his campsite in my car and saw him getting on his bike with wet weather gear on. I rolled down the window and offered him a ride, he declined saying he was only going up the road a “short” while for some fish and chips.
