I found this site thanks to some YT videos posted by the author, Pavel Fomenkov, and thought it may prove useful for many of us here. He’s Russian, but speaks good English and his explanations are very clear. He teaches how to play many songs from DS albums and MK solo career. He even shows the fingering of some tricky chords MK used in his songs. I found the website extremely useful.
Cheers Tomasz, i will be taking a look at that cheers Hec
An amusing story on the radio a couple of days ago:
I missed the beginning of the story, but it was told by a woman who had decided to go back to school/college to do an A level English course many many years ago.
During her lessons, when she was studying, her English teacher would sit on the floor and strum a few songs on his guitar. She said he was a keen guitarist and was very good. He was also a good English teacher.
At the end of the course, she passed her English A level exam and about six months later she was watching TV with her husband and, to her surprise, right there on the telly was her English teacher - playing guitar!
It was Mark Knopfler!!
Right! He also worked as a musical journalist for several years. No wonder, if we look at the lyrics he wrote. Some songs (as eg. 5:15 A.M.) tell whole stories, often taken from real life.
I have viewed many of Pavel’s videos - he is passionate and inspiring.
Thanks for this! I love Mark Knopfler.
I just started with Justin’s Walk of Life lesson.
This particular recording is a new favorite of mine (from Knopfler). Not only is it a masterpiece overall, but it includes Jeff Beck’s final recording.
@Coda - Thanks SO much. Very excited about this. Been wanting to learn why worry for a long time and haven’t found good lessons on it to date. That all changed with his lesson. You are cool!!!
Great find Tomasz. I was not aware of this guy.
A cursory look points to some quality work; and for a favourite band of mine.
You dont often find treasures like this; and all in in place. Thanks again for sharing.
Cheers, Shane
Mark is a good friend of a singer I know called Brian Johnson both lived locally to me and I got to know Brian through music and Geordie another band he is about 14 years older than me and also an English teacher I believe, Brian came to a local pub to meet another great friend of mine he died bless him, Tim Haley, I was talking to Brian and I asked if I could marry his daughter, I think you can guess what he said, So yeah I know a lot of local artists well including Ray Laidlaw very well I used to party at his home and also Sam Fender I know Sam very well I Just thought I would mention a few and. after all that my favourite Mark I have never met but I would love to cheers HEC
