I stumbled upon this lesson whilst looking for something else. I’m a great fan of SRV but not familiar with this particular song. So, in the absence of any chord progression or rhythm in my head, I found the solo in isolation rather weird. I’m sure Justin has got it bang on correct, but it does sound odd. Is it just me?

There is a lesson for the song as well

Hey Rory,

Yeah I agree, it does sound a bit odd without the backing track/rhythm behind it. Maybe just how the cards landed with this one.
This tune however, is an absolute SRV classic.
Try the intro solo first. Its a blast to play with lots of great techniques. Here’s my go at it about a year ago.

Cheers, Shane

I hadn’t joined the site a year ago so missed this first time round. Well worth the listen: your playing is so in the groove of the piece and makes for a marvelously musical performance.

Shane you’ve really cracked the SRV vibe here. Well done. You’ve inspired me to go back and have another go at the SRV shuffle in Pride & Joy.

I’m still struggling to hear how that solo works in this song though.
