Hi Shirlene, welcome to the community forum. I’m 69 and started back at the beginning (again) with Justin’s lesson when I was 67. So you will have many years have fun learning songs. It won’t be long before your fingers stop being tender when you play.
I started a few months ago and I’m 55. Loving it!
Well, I’m 59 too, but I’m still working on that whole “mature” thing LOL. Just remember, music keeps us all young at heart!

Thanks for such a warm and friendly welcome. For those curious about my guitars and why I have two as a beginner. I originally started learning a number of years ago and had Greg Bennett signature guitar. It was a reasonable first guitar purchase but really like most less expensive guitars it wasn’t all that great playability wise. I sold it. I next got myself a Martin D-16GT Dreadnought. I love the deep tones of the Martin but the Dreadnought felt a little cumbersome to me back then. So I got a cutaway Maton EST60C Stage Series. Much easier for me to handle and I loved the brighter tone. I love both of them but usually play the Maton - it just feels more comfortable to me at this early stage of my learning. I would love to get add a mini Maton into my collection as I think it would be awesome as a travel guitar. I would also love an electric but have no idea what I would get. If anyone has recommendations on a decent one to learn on. Bear in mind I don’t want cheap beginner…my first acoustic wasn’t great playability wise and I wouldn’t want a repeat experience with and electric. Some people have recommended a Squier Classic Vibe as a decent beginners electric.

Hi Shirlene, welcome. Good you are ready to learn how to play your guitars now. That learning is never ending, so it doesn’t matter when you start. Enjoy every step.
Not too much advice that I can provide about the electric guitar. For me it has worked an inexpensive Yamaha Pacifica style beginner kit, but it may not be case for you. With an electric guitar I think the combination of guitar, amplifier, effects pedals, and player can produce many different tones. For me watching a YouTube video and listening a comparison between the sound of my two main options was key in my choice. Have fun.
