Here is what I’m working on for May 2026 thus far.
I’ll start with a classic Garth Brooks song giving my shiny new blackstone pick a try. I will have a learning curve to get it sounding perfect but not bad so far.
So last night’s show wasn’t too bad. I got a little nervous but sounded okay. The sound guy didn’t have the microphone loud enough compared to the guitar. Here’s an Ozzy song I played for the first time from memory.
Last time I did this one was the Justin guitar OM with the flickering background
Nice job Jeff, I’m glad to see you’re experimenting strumming with a pick. The Rhythm was quite solid but I thought your wrist might be a bit looser…well…easier said than done for me…I suck at high energy strumming such this one is.
I appreciate the feedback. I think the last time I really played acoustic with a pick was maybe 3 years ago. I had such a problem with dropping it I had given up all together. I agree that I need to lighten up the strumming.
Thanks for the feedback. Overall I think the sound of guitar with a pick is improved compared to my previous hand strumming. I won’t be playing this song in public just yet, but I do have a show tonight at a place called the Spacebar. I will still give it a go with the pick even though it sounds rigid. Most open mics out here only allow acoustic guitar so I have to stick with that. I think the last time I really played with a pick was in 2023 other than electric guitar. Something to work on.
Nice job on all of them. I’m impressed by the one’s you’re playing live. I still haven’t done that, and it would make me super-nervous. You look really relaxed and confident
Thank you. Playing on stage doesn’t really bother me as far as being nervous. We all have to start at step one and keep trying and going back. I feel like I have much more potential once I get more reps in. Thanks for listening to my music.
