Great topic. This was very helpful! Also, couldn’t agree more about the Jack Johnson vibe. Similar to Bob Marley, for sure makes you feel a certain way.

Hey Justin,

Once again, you proved why you’re more than simply a guitar instructor. Your unique music insights provide balance and perspective to the second-to-none technical lessons you offer. I believe that this enhances our guitar journey and ultimately enables us to become better musicians. I love the enthusiasm you display in each and every lesson. Thank you for all you do!

Definitely like what Justin said about requiring some degree of technicality to figure out how to translate your emotions through the music. I’ve been figuring that out a bit lately, it’s easy to tell a brand new player to let “the music flow through them”, or let their emotions dictate the music. But before you really understand more about how the instrument works, it can be difficult to really do that. That’s one of the beautiful things about guitar, the more you learn the more you unlock and the more creative you can get.

Very helpful! Check out Dr. David Hawkins books. He says every song has a level of consciousness. Most everything and everyone has a level of consciousness. The Beatles music has a high level of consciousness, I feel happy and alive playing their songs. George Harrison’s music is even higher at the level of love. There are lower levels of music that come from anger, desire, etc. We entrain our level of consciousness to the level of the music we are listening too. So I try to listen to music with a very positive vibe and avoid the rest. Something to think about. Thank you for the lessons, they have been really helpful.
