Welcome Michael. Retirement should give you time to improve no end.
That’s an awesome map. You gotta make sure you do West Australia really well. It blew us away.
Here’s a couple of videos I took and they only just start to show how stunning WA is.
Beautiful shots Tony… plan one day to head west across the Nullarbor…and do the bottom of WA…then up the coast and around to Broome…maybe back via Tanami desert track to Alice Springs and home. Haven’t included it on that map but been throuh VIC many times and places therein. So keep safe…hope youre enjoying Adelaide…you at West Beach or one of the inner city parks ??
Thanks. About an hour north of Broome is a great spot. James Price point. It’s where the red clay cliffs meet the sea and the water there is a reddish colour from the clay. We aren’t in Adelaide yet, still at Tumby Bay, will be in Adelaide this Friday at the latest. Heading to Whyalla in the morning.
Hi Tony,
Thanks,…
Absolutely fantastic, … I had seen the 2nd one before but it doesn’t get boring after 10x +… this says so much more than a single photo(or 100) … WOW
Greetings,…
Sounds great Silvia…kids are such a ‘non threatening’ audience…i play a blues style song written by an Aussie childrens performer…peter coombe…called “Cut lunch blues” the kids sing along with the parts and have lots of fun with it…if your interested i can do a cellphone recording and upload it for you to try… in key of A with a couple of standard blues chord progressions. Regards…Michael
Thanks Roger, so many great sites. Another one that was a quiet surprise, just a small sign on the road outside of Albany was a place called The Gap.
It was much better in person standing right on the edge of the fence looking into the gap.
Yes please.
Hello and welcome Michael.
More time to play once you retire. A great way to spend retirement.
Welcome Michael, good to meet you! What a wealth of experience you’ve got which sounds like you’re going to add to immensely in retirement! Carry on enjoying
Welcome aboard, Michael.
Your name suggests we share some Celtic roots… way back
I like the concept of singing Valentine songs to your wife. I never was a ‘card’ person, but a song is always special
It reminded me of this Valentine’s Song written and performed by a songwriter I’ve been listening to for over 40 years. He’s a lovely chap and played this in my living room a couple of years ago. You might even want to use it yourself if you’re stuck for an appropriate one sometime
Hi Brian,
Really nice song - never heard it before, but fits the theme perfectly - the clip works really well woth it too.
My ancestors come from County Clare in Ireland, so a mob of Celts !!
Thanks again for the song - i’ll give it a try.
MM
Hi Michael, that would be a very interesting share to my ears! I doubt my pupils would be able to sing along unless the lyrics are super simple, but I could make them easier or make an italian version
Hi Roger and friends - here’s another “valentine clip” from a couple of years ago - loved the Joe Cocker version of this on piano, so thought I’d try it on guitar - recorded late at night on Feb13th - when I suddenly remembered what the next day was - hope you enjoy. MM
Hi Sylvia - not sure how easily it would translate into Italian for Kindergarten aged kids - have you read the story - “Going On A Bear Hunt” by Michael Rosen to the kids ?? (Maybe there’s an Italian version of the book ?) Cute little song goes with it - easy enough to play - I’ll ask our Italian teacher here if she would do a simple translation and maybe sing along with it for your students - might take a few days to organise (I’ll include the chords for it so you can use it too). MM
Hi Michael,
Beautiful, …Very nice to hear,…the song of course not in the literal sense to me. … your wife must have been very happy with this,…that beats flowers with great force (but i find that pretty quick, because flowers belong on the vase only from my/your own garden-although there are exceptions)…
But it would be nice if you could put your own old numbers in a Learning log,… .there it gets just a little more attention, and this definitely deserves that,…then you have a nice start and were you can talk about the things that you like and still want to do ,and a little later to show others or listen to yourself,… (yes yes, I don’t even do much about my own )…and you have a much better start than I ,…although it’s handy if you set the bar a little low first sometimes,…
Just think about what you want of course,…but I would like it,…
Greetings,Rogier
Hi, yes we have the book at school and my coleague knows the song that goes with it! We’ll find sometime tomorrow to do it with the children and she’ll show me. And it’s in italian. Now I look foward for the english version and the chords too! Thank you in advance!
That is very beautiful indeed! Love the fingerstyle and how you mix it with some light strumming. I’m also working to develop a technique that mixes the two…but I still have to work a lot
