Hi
What backing tracks do I use to play the A minor pentatonic scale
5-8 5-7 5-7 5-7 5-8 5-8
I think this is position one of the A minor pentatonic scale.

I order to improvise do I select any of the notes in this scale in any order. Will I need another backing track to play other positions of this scale?

Hey Martin,

Look for progressions in the key of A Major as a start . Keys of A minor, C Major will work OK as well.
A good one to start on is a 145 blues progression in A
Ie A D E
All the notes in the A minor pentatonic will work Ok over these.
As for other positions, they are the same notes, just in different parts of the fretboard, with differing pitches

Cheers, Shane

Any blues in A will work. There are lots of sites where you can find blues backing tracks.

Typo
The notes of a Minor Pentatonic Scale are also found contained in three Major Scales.
should be

It isn’t a typo. The notes of every minor pentatonic scale is found in 3 Major scales not just the A Minor Pentatonic.
