Miraj from ny ;)

hey everyone, my name is miraj, i’m 22 and from ny. i’ve been playing guitar for a few years now but only seriously committed to learning (and using the incredible justin guitar lessons) starting summer 2024. my favorite genres are indie, pop, and rock. i’ve been writing since i was 5, so ever since i’ve gotten a bit of a better handle on the guitar, i’ve been trying to create my own music. it’s a big step up from learning chords to creating combinations of my own, so i’m open to collaborate with anyone who’s stronger on the instrumental/musical side of things. i’m excited to produce and publish songs of my own at some point and could use the help!

Thanks Mark! Interesting to see you used to do software design before switching to music, I actually have a background in computer science/software engineering too

Welcome to the forum Miraj

Hi Miraj
Welcome to JG, not sure where you are with JG, but I would recommend following the grade1-3 closely. If you want to write music for songs the JG Music course would be well worth doing. But at the same time some of the best songs come from experimenting with sounds from a guitar and what you feel, and want to express.

welcome

Welcome to the JG community, it’s always good to go over the basics just to make sure you’ve not missed anything out that’s important to learning properly. You should go through it reasonably quickly if you’ve been doing the right things from the beginning.
As regards anything you don’t know or understand, just ask, there’s always going to be someone who knows what you want to know!
Have fun, that’s the most important part, enjoy what you’re learning, no pressure, just enjoy it!

Hi Miraj, welcome to the community forum.

Welcome Miraj, your enthusiasm is shining through your words! Now…I see there’s an avoyp already! Well done :raising_hands: sharing is the best way to learn from eachother and grow…and that’s what this wonderful Community is all about!

Welcome to the community Miraj ! I’m Mathieu and I also have a software engineering background :slightly_smiling_face: In my 20s, I worked as a software engineer in web and mobile dévelopment. And now I’m 32 and I work as a teacher in software development.

Hopefully, you will make good friends here and share your passion of music with us🙂 Making your own song is a pretty cool project !!!

welcome to the community, look forward to hearing more from you

Welcome, Miraj! I’m new here, too. Everyone seems really nice. Good luck!

Hello Miraj. Writing your own music is a great ambition to have. Good luck with it.
Welcome to JustinGuitar and this fantastic community. Please take your time to look around and get to know the wider space. View by Categories.

We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.

Also, please make sure to read the Community Etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.

If you want to record yourself to show your progress and / or seek feedback there is our ever popular Community Recordings section.

Behind the scenes there is a small and dedicated team who work to make the JustinGuitar experience as good as it can be. Check out the Onboarding sessions provided by Fanny.

Justin also has a small group of Approved Teachers he recommends for people wanting 1-to-1 lessons to supplement his courses - of which I am privileged to be one.

We also host regular (virtual) JustinGuitar Community Open Mic events for community members.

That is plenty to be going on with. It is a vast community space so if you need help as you find your way around just ask.

Cheers. Richard
