No. As others have suggested above look at the things needed to move on from Module 8 listed in last lesson of module 8. The strumming pattern for Free Fallin’ can be learned as a couple of 8th note strumming patterns, learned separately and played together. I didn’t learn the pattern until I was in grade 3. It takes a lot of practice to play that pattern and sing at the same time or at least it did for me

I really like those 10 minute video’s that I can play along with in each practice session. As noted in the description, the play along video for this module is muted. So now I just play along with Nitsuj! Specifically “Nitsuj Module 8 - Practice 3”. So that is a tip to my fellow learners, and a word of appreciation to Nitsuj of course:)

Hi all. I’m trying to learn the strumming for Every Rose Has Its Thorn by Poison. I cannot figure out the strumming pattern.
- Is it
D-D-D--U-UD-DU-U? - and all the strings are being strummed?
- I checked the website and the 16th note strumming is being taught in the next module. Should I first use the All down 8th note strumming for it until I reach that module or should I just jump there learn that and then back to to playing the song?

Perma, I would give it a try, as I leaned a couple of grade 2 and 3 songs with 16-note rhythms. The strumming pattern that you listed looks good to me. I hadn’t learned this song, but I listened to the song lesson and verified the rhythm. I would still start with the all down strum at first. I found it easier to think of the strum as two 8th note strums joined together:
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 +
Then all the downs are on the beat and the ups are on the ands.
