Hi @GrumpyMac - I was not aware of this! @MusopiaApps - can you shed some light here? thank you
It works on my iPhone for some reason, but it has never worked on my iPad. They know this. Not just me, but everyone on this thread. It doesn’t hear the chords, no matter which chords you select. Using my phone is difficult to read while playing due to the small size. I don’t know what the compatibility issue is iPad vs iPhone and musopia is just throwing darts, update after update after update. It’s not a microphone issue because the tuner within the app hears every note crystal clear. We have all done the ridiculous log out/login, delete app/reinstall app advice from musopia dozens of times. They never really communicate what the issue is here other than “restart, we will update, we are aware” Not sure about everyone else but I’ve had this issue for at least a year. I assumed it would be fixed
Sorry for late reply to this
So what’s the outcome to this nightmare??
How long till it’s fixed?
Thanks danny
Hey guys, while I completely understand the frustration of paying for something that doesn’t work, you do realize, right, that you absolutely don’t need an app to practice one minute changes?
Just set a timer for 1 minute and count your changes. Write the number down on a piece of paper, if you like. Do that a bunch of times and you will make good progress. Simples!
That’s exactly my plan B
Just looking how the lessons work on the website over the App now as its a waste of money if the App doesn’t fully work
You must work for musopia…thats their logic i think ![]()

This was fine the first few times, but it’s been weeks in my case and having to open two other apps (timer and metronome) to do something you’re paying for in another app is kind of silly if you think about it.
Any news at all about this? My one minute changes exercises have stopped working for over a month now, both on iphone and ipad and after several reinstalls and supposed updates, still nothing. Might just unsubscribe after finishing grade 1 and switch to the website if this is still the case…
@DannyB1981 @LesPaulMoreRay @GrumpyMac @ganin
I know that @FannyJustinGuitar is now involved and is directly liasing with @MusopiaApps
I know that everyone who works for the JustinGuitar team and for Musopia will be frustrated that the App is not delivering on one of its functions and is causing frustration for people who have taken a subscription.
From my perspective, I first want to say thank you for subscribing. The fees continue to support and enable Justin to provide world class and continually developing free guitar instruction lessons and resources to all - teaching the world for free.
Can I secondly add to the point raised by @jjw and the use of the App for recording one-minute changes.
The App was first developed to provide a play-along guitar-eoke type of tool. Learning and playing songs is a fundamental part of learning and playing guitar. Perhaps the foremost raison d’etre we learn the instrument.
Once it was up and running, Justin and the App developers realised there was potential to also include video lesson from the Beginner Course. This was an addition. A wonderful bonus to its primary function. In time, Grades 1 & 2 were joined by Grade 3 lessons. The App then represented a major and comprehensive learning tool for people.
It has not proved possible so far to link to the main JustinGuitar website. But that is still a hope and an aim. The website still contains far more lessons and resources than it is possible to host on the App. They are complementary parts of the JustinGuitar learning approach.
One-minute changes is a really fantastic learning exercise for all, and especially for beginners. For years and years, the concept was that people used a timer and manually counted and recorded their own changes.
In time, a tool was added to the App that was designed to help with this task. It is unfortunate that people are having issues with that functionality on certain devices.
BUT
The one-minute changes tool is a tiny, miniscule, fractional part of the overall purpose of the App. If I was to estimate at its proportional value relative to everything else on the App I would put it at about 0.0002% of the whole.
The App offers massive amounts of lessons, resources and learning materials and play-along songs.
Yes - it is also designed to offer a one-minute changes tool. If that one small part isn’t working effectively, is it really such a massive loss in the grand scheme of things? There will be a frustration level for sure - and it is evident in the nature of the comments being made here. I just ask that you comment and consider the problem in a manner proportional to the problem itself.
Thanks.

I ve been using the app for the past 2 years
since the beginning it wasnt working but it wasnt a problem
I just found another way to do the 1 minute changes
I was just letting Fanny konw that it a long time issue thats all ^^
hosnetly the app has a lot to offer so this issue was not a deal breaker for me
I wouldn’t think a metronome was necessary for the 1-minute changes exercise. This exercise is not designed to work on your timing, but rather to get the chord grips into your muscle memory. So, you really only need to use a timer, which does not seem onerous.
Actually, back in the day, whenever I did 1-minute changes, I used zero apps: just a glance at my wristwatch to time the 1 minute.
In any case, we have beaten this dead horse enough, I would say. @Richard_close2u 's recent post does a perfect job of putting this whole thing into perspective.
I get what your saying
I only asked when will the fix happen as it used to work so what’s the hold up?
I took my car in for broken radio, the mechanic said the rest of the car works fine, stop complaining.
Can you please keep a positive attitude
The metronome helps me make more consistent changes which in turn trains rythmn. Aside from that, it acts like a counter: if you follow a bpm of at least 125 (on the 1) you know you are meeting the 30 changes per minute, so u can start from slower bpms and move up. Plus it’s completely besides the point; if i’m paying for an advertised feature, I should be able to make use of it. I’m not sure why we have to act like this isn’t how paying for a product works. Would it be ok if you bought a defective item from a shop and were told to “just make it work with something else”? Probably not.
@ganin, @LesPaulMoreRay, I get your disappointment. When I had the app, the one minute changes thing didn’t work. I didn’t bother me at all, but everyone’s different, and that’s perfectly fine. Now, 3 days ago, @FannyJustinGuitar made Raymond an offer, and I’m sure it extends to you too, Jeanine:
Have you guys taken her up on it?
We’re not talking about the One Minute app. We’re talking about the one minute chord change exercises available in the JustinGuitar app.
@FannyJustinGuitar did some digging and this problem goes back as far as Jan 2024 or further. It seems almost every time the JG app (not the OMC app) is updated this problem reoccurs.
Maybe it’s time @MusopiaApps fixed the problem for good or remove the OMC exercise from the app. Just a thought
Or go back to the way it was years ago where it just had a timer and you counted the changes yourself and entered the value into the app.
Or based on this poster’s comment which has been discussed many times in the community add an adjustable metronome with a time
Absolutely not and I’m sorry if my comments sounded like it was ok. You should totally demand that the app do what it was advertised to do, I mean that’s what you paid for, right?
I was just trying to make a helpful suggestion for a workaround, while the buggy app was being fixed.
