Finally had the nerve to record myself…got my old Telecaster and my Fender Bass out and used a BOSS looper to record, lead, rhythm and very simple bass part covering Soul Man- sorry no horns…I play saxophone but my skills are way gone. Very nicely played. I like the ‘vintage’ (whatever it means ) guitar sound and the rhythm.
Thanks!
Nice. You have managed to capture that classic Memphis Stax studio reverb sound. The rhythm is pretty difficult to keep consistent, but you did well and the transitions verses sounded sweet. This is something I would like to try to record someday, so thanks for the cover of this song.
Bravo on that first recording and share, Jim. No reason to feel nerves based on that. Sounds great, well played and produced.
nice. Really like the intro !!
Can’t listen to your song Jim. The link takes me to a ‘create an account’ page.

Thanks!
Thanks! Much appreciated!
Decided to try one more cover…1st take on George Harrison’s While my guitar gently weeps… just finger style on my Telecaster… no bass.
really nice
Thank you!
Both covers are nicely played, Jim!
I preferred the “Soul Man” track… I felt a bit more ‘vibe’ & loved the reverb! Good job!
Tod
Well done on both of them. Here’s hoping you will try video on the next one?
Covering a favorite song and artist of mine (Eva Cassidy) …a cross between Eva Cassidy’s and Cyndi Lauper’s version of “Time After Time” finger style on my Telecaster…Stream Time after Time -Eva Cassidy-Cyndi-Lauper-guitar track by Jhjennis | Listen online for free on SoundCloud
This is the real stuff!
Jim
A good rendition, keeping steady tempo. Playing it a liitle slower may allow space for some more changes in the dynamics. The recording is poor though - sounds like you’re in a cave! Well played.
Brian
The cave was created by my Fender Twin Reverb amp left at my normal settings! Maybe should have changed them before recording and posting!
Jim
I’m an old folkie who has only ever played acoustic so probably don’t know what I’m listening to 90% of the time: all this modern stuff eh!?
Brian
LOL…me too! I was playing accoustic Bob Dylan in my dorm basement coffee houses in 1967…time passes by so quickly.
