My first live solos

Last Saturday was end or team performance in the school where I learn and play guitar with people. We play / practice number of songs over the two month period and then perform a few. I did number of these in the past year, but these were my first proper solos played live.

That little white rectangle on top of Marshall and Peavey is my 30W amp which struggled even on max to properly cut through. You will have to turn the volume up to hear me and I will have to buy big FRFR cab to pair with my amp for future. :slightly_smiling_face:

The song is While my guitar gently weeps, the first solo is Clapton’s mid solo from the live performance and the second one is Prince outro solo from the live performance - shorten and modified a bit. I hope you like it.

Hey Boris,

Very well done my friend; very well done.
It sounded great the band was into it, the crowd was into it; I was into it. And as @adi_mrok said, heck of a debut!

( What…wait… @adi_mrok ? Hey mate. Welcome back. Where ya been? )

Cheers, Shane

This was great Boris. I really enjoyed that. Even your band mates were clapping. Right on brother. I am glad you didn’t throw your guitar like Prince did at the end.

Thank you so much guys! :slightly_smiling_face:

 I will never intentionally abuse my guitar. However, over the period of one year that I own this guitar, there are a few dents, scratches and one volume button is cracked in one spot… It is impossible to play with people and completely avoid this. Interestingly, they don’t bother me the slightest. I am happy that I am able to use it this way actually.

That was totally brilliant. Nice tone. I thought you could hear the solo really well so the amp was doing ok and everyone was cheering your solo and clearly enjoyed it. Well done.

Excellent job, Boris. I also think the drummer played a bit too loudly, although very well, which helped to drown out your solos. Amazing playing on your part. Only thing I could think to add is to maybe ham it up a bit on the next video, although I get playing something like you did here takes a lot of concentration. Smile a bit more and make faces like you’re strangling your guitar to get those notes out of it. All part of the ‘act’ I think anyway. Otherwise, again, amazing!

Thank you guys, I appreciate it! :slightly_smiling_face:

I can do most of these two solos without looking (except for position changes and slides), but the level of automation necessary to do theatrics effectively is very high. I don’t think I am very close to that level. Thank you Jim for listening and commenting. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you Domi! :slightly_smiling_face: How is your preparation for OM going?

Thanks for reminding me! Was going strong, but then I got busy! Today I would have had time, but spent it otherwise, argh!
I read about your being invited to a concert that day - I’m sure it will be great!
Maybe see you in a few OMs then (after the first-timer’s one)!

It’ll all get there. I have to ‘pick one’ when I’m playing too. That’s where I find recording myself and watching it afterwards helps. Hope you didn’t see it as a criticism. Wasn’t meant that way at all. Your playing was superb!
