hi everybody,
One day, @Silvia80 asked me why I didn’t sing in my native language. I’m getting better, Silvia!
Here’s my cover of Evgeny Margulis’ iconic song “My Friend”.
There is little guitar in the original and no solo at all, all the beauty comes from the piano.
So I had to tinker with the keys a lot - I love syncopation and big second intervals
But since we have a guitar forum, I came up with a guitar solo - I think it didn’t ruin the overall work.
There are English lyrics here:
My friend
1.Collar up, pocket’s empty
He’s not young and always drunk
He’s on edge - don’t approach
He always leaves alone
But my friend
Plays the blues better than anyone
Cooler than anyone around
He plays the blues
2.He doesn’t know clever words
He thinks you’re a bunch of goats
He’ll even play in the morgue
He doesn’t care about cheers
But my friend
Plays the blues better than anyone
Cooler than anyone around
He plays the blues
3.Night - on the exhale, day - on the inhale
Someone survived, someone died
The soul flies doomed
From saxophone to knife
But my friend
Plays the blues better than anyone
Cooler than anyone around
He plays the blues
Instr.
4.Collar up, gun’s empty
He’s not young and always drunk
The soul flies doomed
From saxophone to knife
But my friend
Plays the blues better than anyone
Cooler than anyone around
He plays the blues
But my friend
Plays the blues better than anyone
Cooler than anyone around
He plays the blues
I was sure it would be a good suggestion! That sounded great Leo, I think I also got some of the Lyrics…right before the guitar solo, when it goes like tadaradatadada
Thanks for sharing it!

Thanks, girls and guys, for taking time to listen and respond.
It’s great to receive positive feedback, especially from those who are talented in music themselves!
Well, there are five guitar tracks in total. But two or three are playing at the same time.
Yes, Deborah, it’s my own vocals
Thanks, Phil! I really appreciate your opinion
Thanks, John! Actually, for some reason, this mix wasn’t too difficult for me
Yes, Pamela, this song means a lot to me
Thank you, Silvia! And I really love when you sing in Italian
Funny, I was listening to the up front area and thinking, gosh, if this is a piano focused song, it is not mixed that way. The piano was far right with no bleed over to the left side and skinny on the center cut area. Then low and behold, you changed the mix and pulled the piano across to the left a bit. - Nice touch there mate!
I like your lead solo guitar improve. Good stuff there.
I think on vocals you came up a notch. Singing in your native tongue sounded the best I have heard you on vox. Though I prefer English…
