Hello all, I started learning guitar with justinguitar in 2018 and it’s been wonderful. I started a small project in 2018. The goal of my project is to be able to play all 500 songs from the Rolling stones 500 best songs of all time, few every year. After a fairly long gap, I’m now working on my 2024 list, in the meantime for some motivation thought i could maybe share my last one from 2020. Do share any feedback and inputs that you may have and i could use that on my 2024 setlist - Here’s the link to my 2020 project - https://youtu.be/v42NUDilQQI?si=yzuta1RzmvVuJn2d
Great source of inspiration, Vivek, though we should avoid debating the merits of their list
At work so no opportunity to listen but I did edit your post to use the form of link that embeds the video. You should use links starting youtube.com rather than youtu.be
Well that was a bit of a click-bait title Vivek. What you mean is Rolling Stone Magazine project.
Wow, learn to play 500 songs. Depends on what standard of play you want to achieve I suppose. At 2 songs a month that’ll by my reckoning take you around 20 years! Good luck on remembering how to play the first 10 songs by the time you get to the last 10.
Anyway, the ones you’ve given us here were played to a pretty good standard so well done on your project so far. I hope I’m still around when you get to the end of it all!
I have edited the title Gordon.
There is a very big difference between
The Rolling Stones 500 greatest songs
and
Rolling Stone magazine’s 500 greatest song list
Great song choices, Vivek, enjoyed the performances. How many songs do you aim to learn in a year from that edition of the list?
Thank you David. Oh yes i realize it’s a debatable list, guess it’s never going to be easy to categorically rank songs like that, tastes and opinions vary. Thanks so much for getting the right link embedded. Will keep that in mind next time
Oh yes! I realize i should have been more specific about the title. Sorry about that. I’m hoping i’ll pick up speed as i start getting more comfortable and proficient. Hopefully not 20 years I’m sure im going to come up with some favorites that i’ll revisit and explore more deeply… for now just enjoying the ride great if i manage to do all 500, i’d have learnt a lot about skills, geners, artists and history even if i managed only half of it, but for now it’s one of those nice objective goals to chase
Thanks so much Richard.
Hi Vivek, I was intrigued by your title and listened to your 3 recordings. I thought that the playing showed the result of lots of practice and enjoyed your interpretations of the songs. My goal is to be able to play all of the over 700 songs on Justin’s website. Of course I don’t plan on recording all of the songs, since I don’t have that much time left in my life, but I hope to record some of my favorite songs in each of the grade levels eventually. Good luck in your project.
Thanks so much @SteveL_G99 for taking the time to listen and sharing your feedback. Thats an amazing goal that you have set for yourself. All the very best on your journey and look forward to listening to your recordings
Nicely done Vivek. I enjoyed all 3 of your covers.
Thanks very much Willsie for taking the time and sharing your feedback
Great job with this Bob Marley classic. I would have liked to see you playing in the video – maybe next time Admirable goal to get to all these songs. I wish you luck.
Thanks very much @ToshS . I liked how thtat song turned out, too True, would have loved to do the video format. Havent yet figured out merging video with vocals and guitar recorded via the audio interface. Something to learn and try out.
What a cool idea. You know your going to get some amazing songs when you pick off that list.
No women No cry is simply an amazing meaningful song. I reallt enjoyed your version and your efforts.
Check out Ziggy Marley’s version sometime. It really good as well.
Thanks so much @Ontime for taking the time and the feedback. I’d never heard the ziggy marley version, loved that so thank you for recommending that
Great Job, Vivek!
Sounds like patient practice
I started in 2018, too, and will add Wild Horses on my list. Thanks for the inspiration!
