This is a song I’ve always wanted to play but had trouble with, that is until I learned barre chords. The backing track is from Ultimate Guitar, which I recently learned is part of the MuseScore family. You can actually choose the instruments you want to play with, albeit with a MIDI sound.
Nice work James, didn’t know the song before but I like your version. Good work on those barre chords!
Hello James,
nice song and nice playing. Well used D/G. I really like lyrics too.
Thanks for sharing.
Bravo, doing well with your barre chords, James. Enjoyed the song and the dynamics in your vocal.
I would suggest playing this unaccompanied rather than with any backing track. If you want to use a backing track then I think you need to work on the recording to get a better balance in the volume level of your guitar and vocal and the backing. But as I say, I think I’d prefer this being you solo.
Really well done James. Decent barre chords and I too enjoyed the dynamic in your vocal.
Thanks Dave! Actually I thought about doing it solo but I wanted to experiment a bit. But I will work on it solo as summer is coming and I’m always asked by friends and family to play something at our frequent BBQ’s!
I didn’t know the song, but you performed it very well - loved the way you kick things up a notch for the choruses!
Hey James, great! Loved it!
And your barre chords work well!
I was going to state that you’re probably the only one but …
Ok
On the other hand… I’m sure there’s quite a few other songs I don’t know while others have a hard time believing how I could get away not knowing them
It’s probably an age thing I’m guessing this wasn’t 80s
Haha, yes, my main music decade too.
Now looked it up, it’s a german band and a song from 2000 - now I understand why it charted top here and probably even not at all in the UK! The start is a bit quiet, but the chorus is explaining why it was a hit here, I think.
Great performance and bravo to the add the barre chord! I could feel how you got into the song vibe after the first few chords and felt much more comfortable - very nice pöaximh, singing and varitions in dynamics which really made this performance enjoyable! Thanks for sharing and keep going!
Thanks to you and everyone for the kindness and support. I don’t even remember when I first heard the song, but Raemonn released it in 2000, so that is a while ago! I based my version on three or four acoustic covers I found on YouTube that inspired me.
Good work, James. Nice Barre chord workout.
Thanks Willie! I very much appreciate your kind words!
Well done, James! I love this song, it was very popular in my college days in Ukraine. The song of first hearbreaks Thank you!
Thanks Oleg and everyone else in our wonderful community! I am happy the
song resonated so positively with so many
members. I tried playing it a few years ago
but those barre chords were not quite there
yet!
Nice one James, this song brings back some memories and I remember this song very well. Tricky song to play with all those barre chords but you nailed it. Loved your voice on this one , especially hitting those high notes. Top notch stuff
Wow! Thanks for the positive feedback!
Listened again - love the strength and emotion you put in it!
I would probably be happier with my own singing if I wasn’t always quiet and shy when singing
Hey, don’t be shy at all. The first time I tried to sing and play my guitar in front of an audience of three family members almost 6 years ago, they told me I “didn’t have it.” And maybe I don’t have “it” whatever that “it” may be. All I know is I love singing and playing music. As for being able to sing, one of my teachers told me that whoever can talk can also sing!
