My simplified “gig” ready version of The Chain - Fleetwood Mac

Hi Justineer’s
I put this version of The Chain together after watching Justin’s Tutorial and then seeing a cover on YouTube I really liked by a guy called Paul Mahon. I think it is “gig” ready and it is sure fun to play. As always your thoughts and feedback most appreciated.
Cheers
Ron

Great playing and singing, my respect, Sir! :+1:
Edit: I’d like to add that I’ve always liked Fleetwood Mac and Lindsay Buckingham is, in my opinion, one of the seriously underrated guitar players. His playing may not be impressive, but it’s consistently solid and interesting, showing impeccable technique and sound control.

I agree with you Deborah… my favorite Lindsay Buckingham song is Fleetwood Mac’s “Never Going Back Again”… it’s really very good!!!

Saw Paul Davids playing this & he says in the video that he finds it very difficult 0 lots of respect to Lindsay!

Yes he is.

Fleetwood Mac has always been looked down because its a soft rock band
not enough male power in it to be trendy

But there are so many amazing songs with various styles ,a touch a country music from stevie , rock from Buckingham , who s way too much influenced by the talking heads for my taste in the 80’s xD ) , blues from Mick , pop / romantic from Christine etc etc
Its impossible to compare the songs between them since they are all so different !

One of my favourite is " Im so afraid " live 1997
Lindsey re wrote it years after years on stage , its a complete different song from the album
the groove from Micks drums , Mc vie’s bass and Lindsey 's guitar really hits the guts

And that where my review of this topic starts

Im no expert
Your playing is awesome you sing really well , and you made the song your own so its all positive stuff
BUT for me as a listener , it really misses the FM groove
its as if your removed the soul of the song , its basic core
I really hard a hard time to recognize the song at first because of that

The chain is all about the bluesy groove

Hi Ron,

Nice to see another great classic from you :ok_hand: Nicely done love that guitar work, there was a fair bit going on with that fretting hand at times :stuck_out_tongue:

A really enjoyable version Ron and definitely gig ready. Well done.
I love FM, both the original Peter Green blues lineup and the later pop/rock lineup.

It’s a fun song to play Craig and the arrangement I used does keep the lefthand busy. Glad you enjoyed it.

Thank you Gordon. They are a wonderful group in all their configurations.

W3 must have the same taste in music Pamela. Thank you so much for your encouragement.

Thanks David. My arrangement is partially taken from Paul Mahon a British solo acoustic musician I follow on YT. His is way better I adapted for my skill level.
