I purchased my (first) bass guitar about 5 months ago and we bonded almost overnight, so it was only a question of time when I would get a dedicated amp for it. Well, the day has come (and gone, as it was 2 days ago). I purchased a Boss Katana 110 Bass and a Bluetooth adaptor so that I can connect an external audio source wireless to it.
So far, I played the bass through my guitar amp which was not an ideal solution but there were a few settings where the sound was OK. Now, my bass sounds like an actual bass guitar and even the pickup selector makes more sense as the differences in tone are more apparent.
I will have to learn the settings and find out all about the various options for tones, but it already sounds good without too many effects added. I’m still waiting for the amp cover to arrive and ordered a cable to connect it to my laptop. I will buy the foot controller at a later date.
Of course, I tried the “max” option for the power control, though not at full volume, and I could make a few things rattle But it’s possible also with the attenuated “1W” option, too.
As a sort of celebration of my new acquisition, I managed to learn by ear the basslines of these songs:
I’ll have to find the flanger effect in the amp but it’s a pretty swinging bassline anyway so it works on a clearer setting as well.
This one is not so difficult after all, but the pre-choruses took a little longer to work out.
