I was playing Good Riddance by Green Day when I came across Csus2, which is a difficult chord for me because I have to stretch my finger as well as muting the 1st and 6th string. I don’t know how is it possible to mute the 1st string when I tried to mute the 1st string with my first finger but somehow I end up muting my 4th string with my third finger?
Guess if I were to play a Csus2 chord. I’d play a Asus2, barre @ 3rd fret. Viola, Csus2.
Asus2 is:
D string fretted @ 2nd fret.
G string fretted @ 2nd fret.
A, B, and E string are open.
Barre @ 3rd fret, use the same pattern as Asus2 and it becomes Csus2.
Whether it sounds right in the context of your song, I don’t know. But I do know that there are some chords that are required in a song that I can’t play, so I use a alternative fingering to achieve said chord. Fingering that I can do.
That said. Sometimes I find I really gotta play a chord that I can’t finger it right. Them songs, for me, it’s a matter of playing it the way I can’t play it, but trying anyways till I finally get it. Generally, many months out before I do get it mostly correct.
I was going to say the same thing. But like always if it sounds good…I’m thinking Csus2 will not really fit. The B string should ring higher and your 1st string, as Justin teaches it is “muted”
