Guys I am trying to practise my solo improvs. I am playing a chord sequence and just want a looper to replay it again and again through my android phone so I can play a solo on top just to practise
Any suggestion which app to use that is simple and hastle free?
Hi Wordsofamadman,
not sure I can help with a “free” looper but I use SessionBand app on my phone. You can type in the progression you need and choose a style and it will play a backing track with good timing. I play it through a tiny Boss practice amp. It cost about 4 dollars AUD. I like it because it is quick to type in a progression and I can get a short practice in between other distractions.
If literally all you want is to play back a loop for practice purposes then most voice recorder apps will do that, and many will be able to loop it. The sound quality won’t be great but that doesn’t appear to be your priority. I can’t suggest a specific app as I don’t use android
Anytune is FANTASTIC as a phone player for studying
You can setup loops on certain parts of a song, change the tempo (slow-down/speed-up) without changing the key, or change the key (transpose), and lots more.
I’ve been happily using their Pro version for years on iOS. Originally it was not available for Android, but I just saw that it is now, so worth a try for sure!
To loop over your own progression, you’ll have to record it first, and Anytune will not do that for you (but as suggested by others here, any voice recorder will do). But once you have it recorded, no better place to set the loop than this app.
(yeah, I’m huge fan, I use it for all my practice sessions )
