Never too old (to rock n roll)

Hi. Keith from Brisbane in beautiful downtown Australia… At 76 years young, I started playing guitar some 65 years ago and had a mis-spent youth playing rock with bands in pubs and clubs looong before I was legally allowed to drink - great times.
I’ve always considered myself a guitar player, but unfortunately when life got in the way, my abilities and ambitions became confused and my playing was never again as good as I seemed to remember. But the good news was that, in my own head, I never stopped being a rock star, and never lost sight of the dream.
Which brings me to today. As the first day of the rest of my life, I have committed (again) to becoming the best guitar player that I can be, and I look forward to honing my skills and improving alongside each and every one of you here. Happy (and monsterous) playing to you all - we can do this…

Looking forward to hear/see you rocking!
And wishing you lots of fun with Justin’s lessons!

Welcome to the forum Keith. Anyone who quotes Jethro Tull on their Intro header, definitely has the right attitude. Someone else around here says that often and that age is just a number, it how you feel that counts.

Enjoy the ride.

:smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Welcome Keith I’m sure it will all come back to you, when it comes to music age is no barrier most of enjoy it !

believe it or not but Jethro Tull Ian Anderson lives in the village where I was born and grew up but no one ever sees him.

Hello Keith, just joined today so I wish you a warm welcome from the other side of the world. Love your header: we are never too old for anything in life, as long as we fully commit to it and keep an open mind. Good luck and keep rockin’ !

You are so going to be rockin’ the pubs again, and they are going to think of you as the star you are (going to be)—particularly if you perform standing on one leg the whole time… . . . Once you taste that heady wine, there’s that desire for more

Time to Rock and Roll again!,

Hey Keith, great to hear from another aussie, quite a few of us around here. I lived in Brisbane for many years and there’s a lot of great music happening there. If you are into acoustic guitar, and love camping, the SE Qld community has very regular events. Let me know if you want more info. Also every tuesday night at the New Farm Bowls Club is the BUG. Brisbane Unplugged Gig. Worth going to.

I left Brisbane for the Gold Coast well over a decade ago and am involved with the Coast Acoustics club on the Gold and Sunshine coasts.

Look forward to hearing more from you

Rock on, Keith! :sign_of_the_horns: I’m 78 and picking up the guitar again after decades. My fingers may not do what they used to be able to do, but they can do more than I expected.

Hi Keith, welcome to the community forum.

Hey Tony, good to know there are other banana-benders here. Used to live on the Goldie myself at one stage, and the rest of my family are still there.
As for the BUG, I’ve never been a big fan of acoustic - I’ve got a couple of acoustics laying around, but haven’t touched them in over a decade, but the New Farm Bowls has long been a supporter of live music and I used to support the place many years ago when they used to host unknown rock bands on Sunday afternoons - but I digress… Thanks for the invite, and perhaps we’ll meet up there some time soon.
Cheers,
Keith

There’s plenty of old rockers out there around our age who are still selling out world tours, Gilmour, Gibbons - to hell with a list, there’s plenty of them out there and they’re still Guitar Gods.
Don’t worry about the speed, just develop your own style and throw in a serving of emotion and you’ll knock it out of the park. Good luck.
