It has been a while since my last posting. Here’s the latest…
I came across and purchased a rather interesting guitar yesterday at a local shop. It’s a Fender Noventa Strat. It has two P90s and hardtail.
The Noventa series was apparently available around the 2021 timeframe, which included a Tele and a Jazzmaster (w/3 p90s). I never knew about this lineup until yesterday.
Cool instrument Gary.
That should be a lot of fun.
I seem to be a p90 fan myself. Of the 6 pups I got, 3 of them pups are p90s. I’m a fan.
Sharp looking guitar too. I dig the black on red. That’s very cool looking!
Congratulations.
Have a great time with that sweet score.
Very nice, congratulations!
I love that P90 sound, I think you will too.
Squier has a very similar model in their current Paranormal range called a Strat-O-Sonic. It’s 2x P90s a 3 way switch, tone, volume, and a Stoptail bridge and they come in two of Gibson most iconic colors, translucent red of SG fame and Tele Blonde.
The P90s on the Noventa are amazing! My 1st experience with P90s was on my…former… Epiphone Casino, so I wanted another guitar with the same type pickups.
I really wanted that color and finish, too.
Indeed, it has a 3-way switch, which seemed a little strange at first.
I was very interested in the Strat O Sonic, but the tail piece doesn’t have individual string intonation adjustment. I didn’t want to change out the tail piece, either, so that was a show stopper for me.
Another strange bit on the Strat O Sonic is the tailpiece is from Epiphone (at least on some of the production Strat O Sonics).
It’s interesting that the Strat O Sonic has traditional Gibson scale length. Also has push/pull volume control for series/parallel pickup combos and push/pull tone tone control for pickup phasing. Not sure why Fender didn’t go that way with switching on the Noventa.
