I’ve finally bought a new guitar. Probably, almost exactly fifty years after buying my first one.
My old guitar is a Suzuki Kiso FE150, notorious in its day as a Martin clone - there were legal battles concerning breech of patents. It’s been a fantastic guitar: I’ve learned so much with it and all the recordings I’ve put on the site, so far, were made using it. Here is my wonderful Suzuki
I have always wanted a high quality eclectro-acoustic with a cutaway: so I bought a hand-built Breedlove Performance Focus D withL R Baggs Element Active pick-up system; the maker’s certificate inside the guitar, is signed by Kim Breedlove. This was built in Oregon USA: I performed at open mics in Eugene in the year 2000. While there, I met my songwriting hero and friend, Mickey Newbury: he had lived in Springfield Oregon for many years, and although very ill, he welcomed me into his home and we spoke for hours. This Oregon built guitaris a physica, musical link with my hero’s home. Here is my wonderful Breedlove
Great stories. Congratulations. I reckon the 2nd part of making a guitar feel loved is to give it a good name. My guitars are named: Racklesnatch, Frida, Frodo, Gatsby and Lucky.
That’s a lovely guitar, Brian, I’m sure it will bring you much joy. And hopefully stir more of your fond memories of Oregon. Greetings from Corvallis.
Guitars are beautiful in their own right, but when they come with personal stories/relationships they become truly special
Many happy years with your new companion, Brian.
It’s gorgeous!
Very nice guitar Brian i like it, don’t be shaving its moustache off for Movember mind just funning its very nice I’m busy trying to make my acoustic god its hard work cheers
Looking forward to hearing the tone on that Breedlove!!
I spent part of my childhood and University years in Eugene, OR and I STILL miss it from time to time. Was able to get back there just this past summer and revisit old “stomping grounds”.
Enjoy your new guitar (keep that Suzuki at though, too) I am sure it will sound even better than it looks.
