New Year guitar resolutions?

Well I put my goals in my Learning Log a while back which I plan to update soon with more details. So I won’t go too long here and post main short term goals:

  • keep polishing up Snow by RHCP and hopefully publish soon
  • pick more songs where lead and solos are included, I was thinking Black Betty could be a good start
  • more songs and more lead play for me this year in general
  • I have two apps for memorizing fretboard and where notes are, keep practicing this aspect

My goal for 2022 is simply to make more progress than I made in 2021 and to practice/play more regularly.

I’ll ditto that!

(Had to type this as the system wouldn’t let me just post the bit above as it wanted 20 characters. Sometimes posts can be short & sweet.

  • Work my way through Grade 1 (if not finished, have the end zone in sight).
  • Have at least a half dozen songs that I can competently strum and play from memory.
  • Practice at least 5x per week
  • Limit myself to only buying one guitar that I can’t properly play yet!

Play something well enough that the family wants to hear it! Problem is that requires playing it so much that they no longer want to hear it.

My true goal is to improve over where I am now by roughly the same amount as I did over the past year.

If you are practicing with an electric, headphones can be family-friendly!

I already have a long songlist to choose from and my goal for this year to be able to play more of them from beginning to end and not only small sections of these songs.

So I guess learn songs learn songs learn songs is also applicable on me. A little more focus on music theory and transcribing wouldn’t hurt me either.

So hopefully this means that my name will pop up more on the AVoYP section this year.

Oh, and maybe join a open podium on one of my guitar teacher’s events…
