I’ve been thinking about getting a solid body electric for a while and yesterday I pulled the trigger on a white, Yamaha Revstar RSS20. My only electric up to now was a Squire Tele 60’s Thinline.
After playing a number of guitars I found myself drifting towards the shorter scale lengths. After playing one, I thought I was going to buy a PRS McCarty 594. But last weekend, I hit up a local store that’s a Yamaha reseller and played both the Revstar and the McCarty. Then Friday, I hit up a Guitar Center and played used versions of both. When the Revstar hit my hands that second time, it made my decision.
I returned to the local music store to make the purchase. I’d initially leaned towards the green, but the white grew on me and that’s what I bought. After playing around last night and today, I’m loving it. The dual humbuckers have a nice tone, the neck feels great and I really like the satin finish on the back of the next.
I’ll probably set my tele up in Open G and use it to (learn) to play slide.
Ooh, it’s lovely! Revstar is on my shortlist of electric guitars to perhaps buy one day, they just look great. Nice to hear that they also feel and play great. Congrats!
Happy NGD!
I almost bought one of these, simply because a friend was selling it.
I then had a go on one when @Majik brought his on a house-visit. I was mega-impressed, and if in the market for a new guitar, it would definitely be on the shortlist
Unfortunately, it’s the skills that are lacking…
It does… gradually!!!
You have to play & enjoy your new toy, right?
Playing/Enjoying is also “practicing” in disguise.
Therefore, a new guitar will increase your skill level!!!
I’ve been trying to convince my wife of this for years… multiple guitars later I think she’s starting to guess the truth…
