NGD, finally! 1996 Washburn Festival AE-20 MTS

Yesterday I finally decided on my first acoustic steel string guitar. It has taken me several months (6?) of visiting a number of stores and trying many different shapes, sizes and prices. I landed on the used 1996 Washburn that I discussed in this topic.
I was back at the store to buy something else and noticed that the guitar was still there - and discounted 30%. It was too good to resist, so I tried it a final time and brought it home.

Playing it is such a different experience from the classical guitars I’m used to and it’s very enjoyable, even if it will take some getting used to.

Here’s a picture - the color is a bit off. It’s less red and more tobacco brown in real life.

It came with a case, and from the stickers it looks like it’s been to Louisville, Kentucky at some point.

Happy UGD !! Enjoy :sunglasses:

Nice guitar! That will be fun to play. I find that the more time I play classical the wimpier my fingers get pressing steel. Consider low tension strings, like Newtone Heritage or Straight up Strings. Newtone is based in England, I believe so closer to you than SUS.

What a nice looking guitar! I love the combination of thin and jumbo body. I bet it sounds great!

Looks really interesting with that spikey bottom. Happy NGD!

Happy NGD Jacob!

Thanks, all. Hopefully I’ll have a new AVOYP soon to showcase the sound of it.
And thanks for the recommendation on the low tension strings, @Jamolay .
