My wife and I went on vacation the week of the 12th for her “Get the heck out of town” 60th birthday. We went to the Gulf coast of Mississippi and spent the day of her birthday in New Orleans (we have a goal to hit all fifty states and this knocked two off the list). We had lunch one day at a barbecue joint called the Shed. They had a guy playing steel resonator that we listened to for a couple hours and really enjoyed. The drive home consisted of various stops along the Mississippi Blues Trail. Seeing and listening to all these Blues gave me a hard core case of GAS for a resonator. A local music shop was running a deal that allowed me to get a Gretsch G2900 Boxcar Mahogany Round Neck Resonator. Timing was perfect as a college friend had a party that night and we got to jam with it a bit. He brought out the full sound of it. Now I need to go spend some time with it.
Very nice Joe, Happy NRD
Good looking instrument.
Congratulations on a new guitar!
Happy NGD! Resonators are a lot of fun.
Thanks @TheMadman_tobyjenner, @Ontime, @Boris1565 & @TheCluelessLuthier. I am looking forward to spending some quality time with it. Hopefully my work slows down enough to allow me to do so.
I do like that Joe, And I would love to visit The Mississippi Blues Trail man cheers Hec
Thanks @DeltaTyne. If you get the opportunity it is well worth it.
Hi Joe,

Perfect guitar for the narrative, looking good.
Thanks @roger_holland & @Malz. I started learning Lightning Hopkins version of Baby Please Don’t Go and have the opening riff down. If work permits, my goal is to learn the full song within the next month.
