Well, I did it. I went to the shop, planning to buy the cherry-red Epiphone ES-335 I mentioned in the other thread.
But when I played it, it turned out I didn’t like it. It just wasn’t comfortable and I didn’t care for the sound.
The guy kept bringing me other semi-hollow, humbucker guitars. Other Epiphones, a few Gretsch, etc. Some I didn’t like, some that were okay. In the middle of trying about a dozen different guitars was a PRS that I loved everything about. Beautiful, light, comfortable, great action, nice tone. But it was a little more than I had planned to spend.
The owner of the store came by, asked if I’d found anything I liked. The salesman told him I liked the PRS but that it was just a little too expensive for me.
He came back and offered a substantial price reduction. Given that it came with a nice hard case, and the Epiphone didn’t have a case at all, so I’d have had to buy one, the PRS ended up only about $50 more. So it came home with me!
Happy Birthday, and congrats for your purchase. The PRS looks like a fantastic choice among the other options you mentioned. I’m sure you’re gonna love it.
