It is new gear (not guitar, yet) day for me (was on Thursday)!
I bought Headrush MX5, multi-FX processor and the last piece of amplification gear I may ever need. Not saying that I won’t buy anything else in some distant future, but this thing’s capabilities are almost endless and exceed my current skills not by a mile, but by a light-year at least.
5 weeks ago I saw that it’s on sale in Andertons and started thinking about buying it as I wanted to have a similar unit with footswitches and an expression pedal. I watched about a dozen videos about it on top of the ones I’ve seen before and while hesitating to click that “Buy” button realized that the decision was made already. So I placed an order and 4 weeks later MX5 is standing on my desk. And it’s a beast.
The build quality is excellent, the interface and screen responsiveness are flawless, the amount of features is overwhelming (and it’s not even the most features packed unit) and, the most important thing, it sounds amazing.
I didn’t have a lot of time to play with it yet, just messed around trying different stuff that I have no idea how to use properly. But again, the list things MX5 can do are basically endless as it’s still one of the most powerful units on the market.
Overall, it’s an amazing thing that I’ll be figuring out how to use for a long time ahead, but that won’t ever limit me in any way.
Hi Artem,
Happy NPgD
That looks like a fancy thing … have fun with it and good luck figuring it out
Greetings
I very much enjoy my Helix LT. I would miss it if it broke. I do expect it will be around in a decade though. It will take a little time to learn how to control things as well as get a feel for each of the models. Sometimes I hear a tone from a song or lesson and enjoy figuring out how to make it.
I see you left the protective plastic on it - mine is still on after 2 years but getting a little messy around the edges. might be time to retire the plastic on mine
Happy NGD enjoy !
- usable amp models,
- thrird party IR support (don’t underestimate the role of your speaker sim in creating a sound!)
- “record and re-amp” via usb: also very handy
- bunch of effects
- touch screen interface
- gapless switching
- loopers
- expression pedal
- global EQ over all settings; that’s a smart feature!
truly all you need to hit the stage!
Just did a gig on a large stage with a similar unit, just connecting the output to a DI and soundcheck was me chugging some “imperial march” chords and DONE
if your plan is to play live; I can assure you: you don’t need to haul heavy and expensive amps and cabs
It wasn’t, but kinda accidentally I signed up for an open mic and now have 5 days to practice. And I’m gonna be using MX5 for that.
