NGD. Sheeran by Lowden. First impressions

In a moment of weakness this happened…

Please meet my new poor man’s Lowden guitar: Sheeran by Lowden, Tour edition.

I actually tried this on out while visiting Thomann’s in Germany in September.

And some sounds out of it ( Irish tune on Irish guitar )

First impressions: It is very loud! At least as loud as my OM guitars, but probably louder. Acoustically, trebles sound great, mids are boxy, and lows are soft… Plugged in - the opposite, but you should be able to tweak the sound using EQ, pedals, amp etc. The nut is on the narrow side, but still Ok. 1.71", 43.5mm. It’s a little too narrow for my fat fingers, but manageable. It’s very comfortable for stand-up playing, really easy on your shoulders. Apologies for dirty notes - I need some time to adjust to this new size. The tune: The Musketeer’s Approach by great Will McNicol

Overall, I’m pretty happy with this one. She’ll be my new coach-in-front-of-TV guitar. I bet, having installed something like Anthem would make this one a killer gigging guitar (I’m talking fingerstyle, of course).

Beautiful. I was looking at a lowden, but they are hard to find in Aus, which is why I went for the Martin.

Golly, that is very nice. You are right, the highs are absolutely sparkling. I didn’t hear the mids as too boxy; woody perhaps, but dang, choice of back and side wood and all. Your plugged and unplugged passages do illustrate the softness of the bass register, but the plugged portions also show the potential of the mids. Given the small box volume and soundboard area, that’s not at all surprising. All in all, a really nice sounding parlour. Dang! Those highs make it perfect for a celtic reel or a jig. Very nice purchase. Wishing you the best with it.

Probably not. I was planning to do some classical pieces.

Careful when you come to the crossroads, @SILVIA got distracted

Congrats, Alexey,
very nice guitar, have lots of fun!
BTW, I guess, you can make every guitar sound good .

They are definitely something special, I was amazed how full they sound for their size - there again it is a Lowden!
Definitely the Baggs Anthem setup would make an excellent choice, they are just the best. If it was me I would probably go for a decent soundhole pickup as well (Mike Dawes style), this is all starting up an itch that could easily turn to GAS, must be careful

You mean, this stuff, but on classical guitars?
I’m in! :metal:

Hey Alexey!
Congratulations & Happy NGD!!!
I don’t think I’ve ever heard a parlor guitar sound so full & project like that! I love the sparkle unplugged & the bass response when plugged in!!!
Enjoy!!!
