NGD - Troublemaker Tele

Hi everyone!
I honestly didn’t expect to write another NGD topic so soon after the previous one, it had been just 2 months since I got my new Gretsch, but here we are.
Some may say that it’s a perfect example of GAS, and I may agree that it was rather a spontaneous purchase, but I surely do not regret it. Would be weird to get a new shiny guitar and then feel bad about it.
Anyway, here it is, Squier Limited Edition Paranormal Troublemaker Telecaster Deluxe in a stunning black finish with gold hardware that makes you think about the Black Beauty. But it’s too long of a name, it’s just a Troublemaker (especially for my wallet).

I recorded a quick demo, just a bunch of default tones from my Spark and a few butchered riffs.
The guitar feels good. The layout is completely Gibson-like, but it has coil-splits for both humbuckers. I guess I don’t know how to use single coils, but it just makes the guitar much quieter and thinner. Gonna use humbuckers most of the time anyway.
I haven’t played it a lot and haven’t done any proper comparisons, but the pickups feel a bit hotter than in my SG and they don’t clean up that well. But maybe I haven’t figured it out correctly yet.
The neck feels great actually, surprisingly the width difference with my other guitars (SG’s and Gretsch’s necks are 1mm and 0.86 mm wirder respectively) is noticeable. It’s also very glossy, but I like poly finish, it feels smooth and fast.
Obviously have to play it more, use it on a jam session, record some songs to get to know it better.

Some playing:

It never was a ā€œneedā€ purchase and there are not a lot of reasons for it, only one: I looked at it and instantly realised that I want this guitar. Didn’t need it, just wanted to get it. And the fact that it’s a limited edition pushed me to click on that ā€œOrderā€ button.
But who can resist that bound neck with block inlays, big matching headstock, glossy black finish with gold hardware…
Here’s the video of me just talking about it, about how and why I got it, because I don’t want to make this post too long.

Some talking:

And that’s all for now, I guess.
Gonna go play a few songs. Just need to pick a guitar.

Hey there.
That is a truly nice guitar you have there. And the rest of the collections looks nice too!
I like the color and what usually gets me is the limited edition, Idk for me personally, it just means that it’s a bit more special than the general guitar out there.
You played it really nice too, minimal mistakes if there’s any.
Looking forward to see what guitar we’ll see next after this one. :guitar:

Cool!
Real nice score Artem!

However,
now ya got a problem.
Your stable of guitars are all screaming, Play Me! Play Me!

How ya gonna decide which cool guitar to play right now?

Ya got hard choices to make in your future…

Congrats man, and thanks for the introduction to your Troublemaker. Nice videos man.

Thanks, Lieven!

I’m sure it’s gonna be great.

Maybe I just need a proper single coils guitar.

I wish these were the only tough decisions we all ever had to make.
But I feel like they all have their own vibes to them and while I can’t really play them differently, I can choose the appropriate one for each song.

Thanks.

Wow, another really nice guitar!
Yes, none with single coils.
Maybe you could get a coil split on the SG or the new one, should you ever need that tone?

And the demo was great! Now. you could play ā€œthose coverā€ parts on that one!

It has coil splits, but I guess I don’t know how to dial in the tone for it.

Great - it has coil-splits!
Dial in the tone? You mean how to activate your coil-split?
Just looked it up:

ā€œWhen you need crisp single-coil bite, simply pull up on the tone knobs to activate the coil-split function, transforming the humbuckers into single coils.ā€

No, dial in as to make it sound good. Because now I just don’t get it, the tone doesn’t change much, just becomes much quieter and thinner. Or maybe that’s how it is and I’m simply too accustomed to humbuckers.

Ok.
I’m used to humbuckers only too, so can’t help here unfortunately!
